Anyone getting a Cayman soon???

In the last few days I have spoken with friends who are both expecting their Caymans.
Apparently the launch is 23rd Nov with the first cars available on the 25th.....both guys are expecting to have their cars by the end of Nov.

Just wondered if anyone on here is due an early car??

I thought that the official release date was 26th November. OPCs are having customer launch nights from 21st November.

Even though many people should have their Caymans on the release date, i don't see how this could be 100% confirmed until after the car is built - and AFAIK no UK Caymans have been built yet.

- correction it seems that at least 1 UK customer Cayman was built yesterday! I'm waiting to hear news of my build next week.

Also a silver 55-plate Cayman has been spotted driving on the M4 near Reading.

A friend of mine is expecting his by the end of Nov. I think he said he was 6th on the list.

He's rather excited about getting it.

I may take my OPC up on the viewing invite on the 21st,, should be interesting going in there not wanting one and objectively comparing it with the Boxster.

I'm attending at OPC Wilmslow on the 21st. Looking forward to seeing the car in the flesh as well.

Had a Nov delivery date myself but seeing as I will be away a lot in the winter I am now picking it up in March from the factory.

Saw the car in Frankfurt in September. Way way better in the metal. You won´t be disappointed when you see it.
Still going to the presentation at the end of the month just to drool a bit more.

I mentioned the invite to the launch to a mate and he said "Will they be doing donuts in the car park till the tyres burst with lots of punters baying for more".

No, I said, probably just some canapes and a glass or 2 of poo.

Friend of mine just had his 996TT serviced at Reading last week & saw a silver Cayman on UK plates driving around.

The car looks great! Especially in Cobalt with the standard wheels....well done that man!

FWIW, I'm told by Porsche Personnel who tracked the Cayman S at Bedford recently that it is a fantastic device and well worth the premium over the Boxster.

Were they going to say anything else; more money means more commission! You're not going to find anyone in OPC sales talking down the Cayman - despite their personal thoughts on the matter!

First impressions - great car

Steering feel is excellent.
Sports Chrono and PASM really sharpen it up, but "normal" PASM best for our lousy roads.
Engine feels much more flexible than Boxster S - even at low revs (all I could try!).

Negative point - huge blindspot in rear quarter. Had hoped that the quarterlight would help this (compared to Boxster), but it doesn't.

It wasn't a salesman I was talking to actually, he's a friend of a friend, who I came back from Le Mans with this year. Trust me, He's not the sort of guy to put any spin on it.
