Hi Guys

I'm after some advise to put my mind at rest.

I bought my car a little over a year ago ran it for a couple of weeks then took it off the road to renovate it. Prior to me getting it the engine had had a new turbo, top end rebuild and botton end rebuild since then the car has done around 30k. When I got the car the oil pressure was 4.5 when cold and 2/2.5 when warm.

She's now been resprayed and virtually finished. The problem i'm getting is that the oil pressure is 4 when cold and drops to 1 when hot. When I rev the car to 3000rpm it only raises to 2. While it's been off the road all that i've done is started it regularly and idled it for around 10 - 20 mins at a time. The car is actually running the best it ever has. I haven't changed the oil yet but was planning to do so.

Will the oil change affect the oil pressure or is it maybe the sender that's at fault?

Any advise on this would be greatly appreciated and put my worrying to bed.

Many thanks

John.

I should change the oil and see what happens before you do anything further . The owners manual for the 924 carrera that I have states that it is acceptable for the oil pressure light to flicker when the car is warm ; mine doesn`t but pressure drops under two when idling after use . The engines are very strong and given the work yours has had , I can`t see any great problem . good luck with it , they are a much under rated machine and way quicker ( in the real world) than the equivalent late 70`s early 80`s Sc 911 .

Cheers Michael

I'll try Changing the Oil and see what happens. The car needs a good service and tune so hopfully that might sort out the problem. I can't understand how I would have lost oil pressure without putting any miles on the clock. If that doesn't solve it I'll see if I can get a new sernder unit .

Thanks

John

Just to let you know, after oil change she's now hitting 6 bar when cold dropping to 2/2.5 when warm.

Cheers
