Quick question for fellow 993tt owners?

My car is clearly not happy on full lock, even if only creeping round a corner - and that despite having a pathetic turning circle! Do you guys get any knocking from your transmission when on full steering lock? If not I guess my front CV joints/driveshafts are on the way out (car has done 55k miles).

Hi Niehls, I don't have this problem- car has covered 49,000 miles.

I DO have a garage with enough headroom for a 2 poster - however the 993tt will be up for sale shortly and I'll be emigrating. Hoping to perhaps go for an RS.

God I really do NOT fancy a flat/trendy appartment in Deutcheland- hope I can find a comparable decent country pad......

Bollocks I'm the statistical blip! I was expecting to hear "Oh, they normally need replacing at around 60k miles"....

Mileage seems genuine - service receipts with mileage marked on them back to when the car was new. What has the previous owner being doing with his OPC-maintained porker to shag the CV joints then? Playing at high speed merry-go-round in a car park?

Will have a look tonight - maybe a perforated CV joint boot or somesuch.

Always worth keeping on eye on CV joint boots.

The rear limited slip diff (and/or the tyres) may make some noise as the rotational speed difference of the inside and outside wheels is quite high at full lock. But if this is a "new" noise then I would check CV joints first.

Went and saw my local indie yesterday evening and got the man in the car while I drove back and forth on full lock. The noise is most exaggerated in reverse and is apparently exactly that - the diff coping with the full lock. So I'm a prat and it was nothing to worry about...yippee! Will still have her up on stands to check the boots, but mind at ease anyway.
