Been riding bikes for 17 years now, and in that time i have owned loads of bikes...loads.

I love the new bikes of today...but find i look wistfully in the Autotrader etc..for the bikes of my younger days.
E.g NS125F/R, RGV 250, KR-1(S), GSXR1100, Exups, RD350LC, Duke 851/888, original Fireblade & RC30..Mmmm etc etc....
I'm now pining for an original ZXR 750H2, in GWB. I had one in 1990, and i loved it :cloud9:, and really want one now. There are a few rougher than rough ones out there, but no nice original ones...
:(
What bikes do you miss?

When I first started riding (late '70s), I lusted after a Honda 400 four, then a Laverda Jota, then countless others but at the time I couldn't afford them and so had to make do with lesser, older bikes.

I saw a 400-4 the other day and no way would I want one now, I might be still be tempted by a Jota but I know I would be disapointed with the way it goes.

There are many old bikes that I wanted and some that I had and at the time they were worthy bikes but I think now they're best left in your memories.

My current bike ('98 916) is getting on a bit and the design is well over 10 yrs old but to me it still feels 'up-to-date' (despite the 'agricultural' noises) because I have little experience of anything newer or better and for now, until I can fully utilise it's abilities I don't see the point in getting anything more able - a bit more power would be nice though .

That said I would still like an old Norton Manx 500....

I fondly reminisce over some of the less obvious things I've owned. I had a ZZR1100D5 which wasn't half as good a bike as the ZZR1200 I now own, but which I get quite misty eyed over. I had a 1989 ZX10, which I bought new and spent lots of money on (Mr Turbo, Dream Machine, Maxton, Yoshi pipe AND nitrous kit). I really miss that. The one that really does it for me though was a tatty GT750 shaft drive Kawasaki I owned. It was my first day-to-day "big" bike and I grew upin South Africa with it, touring, being silly and taking out some very lovely girlies. It was a part of me and I miss it very much, even though it was undoubtedly not a very good motorbike!

Never owned one but kinda hankered over a 350LC (early 80's model unfaired).......but those skinny tyres.

Remember years ago a mate with a CB900 met one at the traffic lights (LC had to bump start LOL) full race fairing & probably tuned to destruction.......it was close apparently & the 900 was no slouch in those days.

....I was on my GSX250 so let 'em get on with it

Well i've not been biking for long, but I have become really quite attached to my little ZX7R. I bought it in April for £1500 as a bit of a dog of a project, and ive spent many long summers evenings with a few spanners and a few more beers, fixing it up into what is now quite a nice motorcycle. It's still not immaculate, but the blemishes give it some character, and I really cannot see me ever selling it - it's not worth very much and it's certainly fast enough to keep me entertained for some time. Plus, the engine is about the only thing I haven't fixed or replaced, so when I finally get around to sorting that out (fuelling isn't great and it seeps a little oil) it'll practically be a new bike.

Plus, i've learned to ride it almost to it's limits on a good day, and i've cracked a few biking milestones on it - rebuilt my first brake caliper, learned to bleed brakes, learned how to use my body position to turn a bike, got my knee down, got my footpeg down come to that and basically just gleaned an awful lot of knowledge and experience from either fixing it or riding it.

I have similar feelings for the Bandit I owned first (and that was a cheap project too) but the green machine has taught me so much more and allowed me to experience a style of riding that I could only dream of on the little Suzuki.
