link works better if you don't truncate the 'sp' from the end.
Probably this article

you're missing an 'sp' off the link

too slow - beaten too it by Einion

A couple of the lads at work have these too - a lot easier than burning mp3s to CD.

I dare say it wont be long before WiFi headunits become available and you can upload tracks from your PC's mp3 collection without having to leave your car

Using a tape player to control my CD changer. Got a good deal in Halfords. After getting the Alpine screen, DVD and CD changer nicked from the car decided not to go with a pricey stereo until I get better security arranged.

My housemate has one of these on order. I think he paid about £70 from Novatech or somewhere similar.

In fact UPS have just delivered i'll let you know how he gets on with it.

But do you actually use tapes in it?

For reasons of safety, the USB port will be kept away from the CD player, possibly in the glovebox. No-one wants drivers fiddling with a memory stick while driving down the motorway.

Cue legions of crashes caused as we all start fiddling in the glove box while driving. Bad idea, just have it near the head unit, surely it's no more difficult than changing a CD.

Buy a big enough stick and you'll have to change it about once a fortnight.

Alternatively you could go down the hard drive based route and have all your music in the car.

Interesting

Is this similar to the "8 track" system that I've been hearing so much about

Andy,

We're having trouble getting my housemates to work. Its going into a Mk2 Golf. Plugged it into the ISO blocks but we're not getting any power through to it.

I think the wires from the car into its ISO block aren't correct for this head unit. Did your mum's require any manipulation??

The other choice is to try it in my Golf (mk3) and see how we get on.
