Apparently, the Typhon is going into production any time now (I was told the first car will be delivered in the next few weeks) but it won't have the supercharged engine (although it will still cost the same as the original Typhon price!!!). I have asked for my depodit back but TVR haven't got back to me yet, it been over a week.

When I was in Blackpool a few weeks back they told me that rumours of its demise were unfounded.

I wish you lot had a clue what you meant by "Typhon".

Just because something looks the same, doesnt mean it is the same!
The first thing to find out is whether Blackpool have a composites dept. still and whether therefore this thing will be carbon fibre or glass.
2nd...construction methodology. If what is being touted now is built the same and looks the same underneath (it makes a hell of a difference) Im a dutchman.

The Typhon exists (or will soon!) but it not the car I placed a deposit on 2 years ago. They have removed the supercharger (so it's a T440R not a Typhon) but the price is the same as the original Typhon. So if you had a deposit down on a T440R (which nobody did from the information I have) then you would be paying £5K less than somebody who placed an order for the top of the range car.

Not to good, oh and I received an email from TVR yesterday saying I can have my deposit back because of this reason.

Nope that was Prime Al's/ Doctor D's - see other threads on this Forum. Was due to be the first customer car but the plug was pulled at the last minute. AFAIK this was the car at the recent opening of TVR London.

That mpg was done at the Goodwood festival of speed, Prime Al was filming and I was pushing the accelerator .

I've never said on here anything about all our trails and tribulations since we first ordered our new car with TVR.
I am a supporter of TVR so would never diss the company on any forum.

Just recently we have been trying to get some information on the latest 'Typhon' news and we are getting nowhere...it's like on a brick wall and ...well...it's been like it for the last 4 years.

We ordered ours when the T440R was first talked about.

In fact, we even bought the plate T440 RO
Would have been a great plate for me as RO!

When the Typhon details were released at an extra £5000, we upgraded our order to the supercharged, sequential Typhon and were number 4 on build.

We went up to spec it when Al's was on build, it hadn't been worth going to do it until the number one car was at least nearly done.

We saw the body shells for numbers 2 and 3 which had already been made and knew ours was next.

Then it just got delayed further and further.

In the end, there is only so long you can wait on tenterhooks for your new TVR!

We were advised by someone 'in the know' that it was probable we wouldn't see the car until late 2006.

As soon as Ian from Castles took delivery of his Sagaris he rang me and said I should get Ray to look at it.

Funnily enough, it was spec'ed almost as we were going to spec the Typhon, what are the odds of that
(external paintwork was going to be a little more radical on the Typhon and then there was the spoiler we were having on it! )

We went on the Friday to look at the Sagaris and Saturday to test drive it and during the course of those two afternoons three people tried to buy it............but Ian had said we could have first refusal!

So we bought the Saggy, but left a minimum deposit on the Typhon in case it ever came to pass and were told we would lose our place in the queue, which was...by then...number 2!

However, the Sagaris is sooo good, that if there is no supercharger and no sequential box, I can't see Ray wanting to change the Sagaris for a T440 paying the Typhon price.

We have discussed it obviously, but there has been no word from the factory.....nothing....not a peep..and nothing about giving us back our deposit.

In fact, when the latest news of a car actually being produced started being talked about on here, Ray phoned the factory to see if we might end up with our Typhon after all and could get no information from anyone.

I'll be honest and say that I don't know that I would want one now even it it came out, especially with no supercharger or sequential box.

It's a well known fact how much I love the Sagaris....and when we bought it, it freed enough money for us to consider expanding our business and that is what we are endeavouring to do at the moment.

Time moves on...life changes and we now have other plans....plans that would have to be changed if TVR were to phone and tell us we could have a car in three weeks!

Honestly.....I still think Ray would want to do it........a T440 (although I believe it would still be called a Typhon)must be high on any TVR fan's wish list, but........well...I can see myself being a spoke in his wheel.

It's interesting to hear that you have been offered your deposit back.........

Totally agree YP. Without the supercharger (so only 34bhp more than the Sag) and the absence of the sequential box, £85k seems to me!

I transferred my order to the Sagaris a year after Prime Al's car was cancelled (as there was no news forthcoming from the factory regarding Typhon builds). And to be honest I'm so glad I did. 4-5 years plus is far too long to wait for the 'possibility 'of a new car, even a TVR.

I guess - from what I've read - it's all space-age materials and an even better drive. Extra seats as well.

Er no a T440 is not high on my wish list.
It has 2 seats too many. It looks fugly.
It is £30k over priced.

Why on earth would it be high on a wish list? It offers absolutely nothing except 2 extra seats and 34 horses or so over a Sagaris. Now supercharge it and give it the full complement of ponies and yer talking, but without that it is a daft product.

Nicolai...you will be an arse if you build it, for you *will not* flog enough of them. The demand for a short of puff, £80k 2+2 TVR isnt there. At £40k, yes the demand is there, at £50k you are pushing your luck, at £80k is it financial and corporate suicide. You also screw your Tuscan vert spotlight and introduction.

Anyone on here who hasn't got an order for the never to appear Typhon as it was touted at the motorshow a couple of years ago, needs to zip their lip...... sorry but there is some much sh1t in circulation over this car that it need to be put straight.

Typhon = supercharged, carbon fibre composite, sequential gearbox
440/440R = Normally aspirated, glass fibre composite, "standard" gearbox.

If TVR are offering refunds on the Typhon orders, then I've not received one or any information regarding the refund of my deposit, so it's probable that those offers have been made after the customers have *ahem* enquired.

I for one will not be spending £80k+ on a car that in all honesty is at least £35k overpriced and is not what I ordered. If our Russian friend thinks he can get away with that, then I look forward to pointing out the error of his ways.

So Nicolai, if you or anyone you know is reading this, then contact the customer whose Typhon order was placed through DM in Heathfield (I believe I am the only one) and maybe we could discuss the return of my deposit......

TVR and customer relations - what a joke!
