Just about to book a flight to Oz. Want to travel business class but Singapore is £300 more than Emirates. Anyone use, or recommend one over the other?

Interesting prices at gulfair last time I booked some flights from Sydney to London.

Emirates

You're treated to business class service in the back, so god knows what business class is like!

(never flown Singapore though!)

Paul, if you want, PM me; flights are summat I can help you with. £300 sounds way off. Either you have found a very expensive EK fare or a realy cheap SQ fare...

Emirates are very good, and were voted best airline in the world at some point.

I nearly booked a biz class return to Oz a while back, by paying £3000 for full fare economy and getting the biz class upgrade for free thru Amex. However IIRC it did mean changing twice - once in Dubai and again in Singapore. So booked a BA/Quantas combo in the end, and then later cancelled it as didn't need to go after all.

I saw a charter flight leaving from Au to UK for only about $500AUD, they needed to fill the empty seats, was only on one date in November though and you needed to book a few months ago.

I paid just over $2000AUD for a 3 stopper from ADL-SYD/SYD-BKK/BKK-LHR and back again with QANTAS/BA. Singapore were only a little bit more expensive than that IIRC though they did have some specials at the time for some anniversary or something.

I got a one way From ADL-MLB/MLB-VIE/VIE-LHR for about $1200AUD with Austrian air, I could have got it slightly cheaper through QANTAS but I couldn't resist trying out a new route with something other than yet another 747 on an airline I haven't tried before.

I was almost tempted to try Aeroflot but their prices are scarier than their safety record

I would say that of those Emirates are the better, when you are talking £300 difference shirley that is a minor point on such a long haul flight though .
If you don't mind them, BA have been running a deal where full price Club have the option to fly one leg First which can make a big difference IMHO, not sure if it still applies or to Aus but worth asking.

Flown Emirates from LHR to Dubai-Singapore-Jakarta. Not bad at all apart from they kept trying to wake me up when food/drinks were served.Air hostesses were minging(shallow i know)

Not sure i'd want to fly to Aus with more than one stop tho(unless stopover)which is probably what you'd have to do with Emirates(could be wrong though).

£300 versus a quicker journey and a lot less hanging around in airports. I'd take Singapore.

I've flown Singapore Airlines, business to Sydney - thoroughly recommended. I'd imagine you'd be changing twice on the Emirates flight - so is one stop less worth 300 quid?

Andy.

You've sussed me. Don't like the outfits the Emirates girls wear either.

Yep, prefer one stop too with least hanging about.

I flew 'Raffles Class' with Singapore Airlines to Brunei (but a wealthy chap there was paying the bill ) 747 'Megatop', loads of legroom, dusky oriental girls bringing you mauve slippers and champagne... superb. And remember, the more you spend the more tax you save

Unfortunately when I'm paying the bill it's Korean Airline's 'Livestock Class' and a three day wait in Novosibirsk!
