Just a quick one (interest really rather than a burning need)...
What are the SVA/MOT requirements for headlamp aim? I can only find vague references to "does not dazzle" and dire warnings that special equipment is required. I seem to remember a simple set of sqaures on the test station wall. Has it all changed?

They should just use an ordinary MOT headlamp alignment gauge. There's nothing to stop you taking the car to an MOT station first and asking them to set the lights up for you if you want.

The standards are the same and the same test equipment and criteria are used...
...so as suggested...take it for an MOT before the SVA and get it set beforehand.
A whole load of reasons why a pre SVA MOT is a good idea in my view.

Diagram in the SVA handbook. Easy enough to set up on gargage wall using a tape measure.

They let me adjust the lights at SVA until they were correct. The guy knew it is tough to set them perfectly without the right gear.
Thanks Guys,
Just wanted it to be close before the test. I've found the picture in the MOT manual. It wasn't in the electronic copy of the SVA manual I had for some reason.
