Just about to buy a lightly accident damaged GSXR600 (98) with a view to making it into a trackday bike.....(I gave up road biking a couple of years ago after 14yrs riding as the roads are too blummin' dangerous!)

Its been sitting outside, in my work carpark for the last year and a half with a smashed LHS fairing and v. light scratches to the frame etc.....quite tatty but otherwise looks good. I've offered the guy £250 and he seems very keen to get shot, has anyone any experience of doing this....? I also don't know whether to make it road legal or not as I've heard some trackdays you have to have a road legal bike for.

Any advice gratefully recieved.

Bargain mate - you could break it and make more than that on eBay!

Yep, absolute bargain. Those gixers go quite well on the track too. Just declare it sorn and it should be fine.

I've ridden on loads of trackdays this year on my race bike which is certainly not road legal.

Thanks guys,

Just been to look at it and the only visible damage is a cracked LHS bottom fairing, slightly dented and rusted tank (about the size of a golf ball where the fairing support hit it) and broken brake and clutch levers. It is tatty but looks solid and clean underneath. I'm really quite excited about this.....just gutted I'm off to bloody Ir*q for the winter in 2 weeks so won't get to enjoy it!

Thanks for the help, just hope he doesn't pull out now....
