End Of Road For Drivel oops sorry Driven
Discussion
Channel 4 motoring show Driven has been axed. There will now only be three one-hour specials in the run-up to Christmas. Insiders said that after 100 programmes the decision was made to call it a day.
It took them 100 programs to figure out it was crap??
god some people are stupid !!

That means instead of a motoring programme they'll be showing something else like tree hugging lentil munchers in synchronised swimming events.
Personally, I think a bad motoring programme is always better than a good, for example, celebrity cooking programme.
I'm sorry TV bandwidth for motoring is being reduced.

As BBC2 Top Gear (pre JC return) collapsed into a pile o'sh17 Drivel was actually one of the better car progs, what with proper back to back tests etc. Saw the first one of the latest series a few months ago however and couldn't believe how bad it had become. JP knocking corners off a Merc/something stupid with a Supra/2 cars knockin hell outa' each other...
Said "thats enough for me". Never watched again.

Talking of car programmes, I reckon 5th Gear is definitely on the up. Current series is better than the first and they seem to cram more car info into half an hour than the Jeremy Clarkson Show (whoops, I mean Top Gear) does in an hour. Keep it up 5th Gear.
I reckon the next one for the chop is Pulling Power. Now, where did I put my black leather driving gloves.

I agree with AF. Half an hour of any motoring program is better than none at all, surely. I'd rather sit infront of the box eating din dins watching a program about ANYTHING to do with cars/motorsport, than some of the other poo that plagues our screens.
Regarding Clarkson's efforts on Sunday nights; yes it is not as good as Fith Gear. One question:
Top Gear or Songs of Praise?

I employ the simple expedient of not owning a television. Though of course I have to sit through Eastbrook Coroneighbenderside Farm when I'm down at me Julie's.... asssuming I'm not down ON me Julie that is... ;-) even she can't concentrate on cretinous Ken and dreary Deidre when I'm on the job. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.... oops, sorry, where was I?
Hey, it's great, not having a telly: I can recommend it to anybody. Not only do you avoid polluting your brain with the pre-digested cack that somehow passes for entertainment, you also get out of paying that legalised robbery aka the Television Tax. I love the look on the inspectors' faces when they turn up and think they've got a 'pull': I just show them around the 3 shoeboxes that pass for rooms in my bungalow and off they go, all disgruntled like, scribbling on their notepads and resolving to return with a handheld detector at some future juncture.
Then I bugger off out to the workshop and machine up a jig for inspecting missiles (yes, I really did do that last night!).... what exciting lives we all lead.
