TVR and Quality, there are 2 words that dont often appear in a sentance. Along with "those TVR engines are brilliant, bulletproof"

Well, the Rover V8 based engies with serpentine cooling were bulletproof, older ones a little more tricky (based on stats from warrantee direct and TVR power) wheras TVR's own AJP V8 and Speed 6 varients were risky.

Holdon, thats spooky a Rover engine with cooling sorted ... hello K series

So have you ever owned an AJP8 engined car? The engine was extensively proven in a race series also.

Yes, the AJP8 is proving to be one of the best high performance engines ever - esp in terms of lightness, torque and reliability.

Dont forget, race engines are famous for not needing constant rebuilding and being perfect for road use.

No I havnt but over the years I had a lot of TVR trips/runs/outings cancelled with freinds whos Cerberas were constantly unservicable due engine problems ... you don't have to own one to share the pain !

DING ! (happily commenting with perceived even-handedness on both TVR and Lotus engines)

As an ex Metro owner I'm amazed you don't suffer from reoccuring nightmares.

My neighbour is having nightmares £5000 of bills on a 4.0l chimera in 1 year. (Rover engined mind you) On top of that he has blown the head gasket - what will that cost? Silly boy was trying to make it go like my elise.

Personally I have been trying to blow up my Rover engine so I can justify a honda conversion. The little begger just won't die.....

There has been more K series engine failure than you can shake a big stick at, and those head bolts are just ridiculous! They have starship torque setting because they couldn't get a head gasket to work! Crap.....I'd never go near one not even in a lotus.

Interesting, is that an absolute number of failures, or number of failures per quantity of engines manufactured, road miles driven or power on hours

They do fail but if you mind a few basics then they dont fail.
Warm up gently before you thrash and after a thrash cool her gently. The Elise is a beautiful lady, treat her like one.

The regulars on this forum know this that is why the HGF thread is not very common.

Thinking about it, the HGF threads are common at the begining of the spring / summer. Is this when we start driving hard?
