I bid on an item on ebay 10 days ago and immediately i was outbid so i left it and watched the item, there was a few bids over the days but the guy who outbid me was counter attacking, anyway today the last day i put a bid in this afternoon just to see how high this guy/woman had bid to i found his level then thought i would sit and wait for him to bid just before seven then hit him with a counterbid...bingo ide win it.

Anyway he came back around 17.30ish and there was a tussle of £'s it ended with him in front and i retreated to go down the corner shop for a can of Stella....now i really wanted this item so i sat in wait with two windows open, one to outbid and another to refresh..i refreshed right to 1 min to go and saw he hadnt made a move then banged in a bid and outbid him but before you could say "pay your bill" i was on the ropes Bd had only gone and outbid me........its more than just a few quid its a tactical defeat i need to sharpen up.

You waited only till the last minute? I've put winning bids in within the last 14 seconds of an auction mate! You wait till it says 20 seconds, then by the time you click bid, put the amount in and then click confirm the other guy doesn't have a chance!

I bid in last ten seconds, i place my max bid then either the snipers get it or i win, no getting drawn into paying more than i think its worth

i had never seen that before. it seems like quite a reliable way to bid without hassle.
i might have to try it.

Aye...some of those things bid for you in the last 3 seconds.

Only worry is..they have your password.

What happens if a rogue employee buys £1,000,000 of stuff for you after he's sacked...?

I normally bid with about 10 seconds to go.. as said, by the time its gone through the system you're either a winner or a looser, but its all over...

There's also lastminutebidder.com...

I'm starting to get arsed off with the number of people who blatantly have a second account (or use a mate) to bump up the bidding. There was a Mark Adams-tuned ECU on there a few weeks back that mysteriously went up by more than £100 right at the end; the buyer was in the same town as the seller and neither left the other feedback, despite every other item either had been involved with having full feedback.
There was definitely a rat to be smelled... as was there with a milling machine today that fetched (by my reckoning ) well over £500 more than you could get a better-spec machine for.... with one bidder apparently bidding against himself

It's not.

I put in 3 bids in the last 45 seconds. Not one was recorded.

NTP. Network Time Protocol = pretty damn accurate

With Windows XP, double click the time on the bottom right of your screen, and it should have a tab called internet time. Same thing, so you too can be on Ebay time

No need to sod about. Simply enter the highest amount your happy to pay. If that turns out to be insufficient, then it becomes irrelevant.

If you would have gone up to a higher bid then why didn't you just enter it?

If someone bids higher then they win - but you didn't want to bid this high - remember?

If you would have gone higher still then enter that amount.

I can't see the point in these bid-sniper programs.

If your bid is lower than an earlier higher bid it won't necessarily show.. in the frenetic closing stages of an auction quite a few bids may simply not be shown because they have already been immediately outbid by proxy.
