I've seen a few 993TT's going for £50k with around 45k miles on the clock. I like the idea of spending no more than £50k, but am not too sure about getting one with that many miles. Trouble is the ones with only 30k ish miles tend to be a hefty £60k from either OPC or Paragon.

I'm I looking for trouble getting a higher miler turbo, with big bills round the corner? Or is it just £10k extra wasted that will be lost in depreciation due to daily wear?

RR stop being such a girl. If you are worrying about service costs then you are either Scottish or can't afford it. Anyhow, as you say, 50 little ones is a lot less than you were originally thinking of spending... So put the rest aside for servicing.

I think most turbo owners would agree that the reputation of being hideously expensive to run is just plain arse. So lets look at this pragmatically. What do you get over and above a std 993:

1) 2 turbo's, should be good for 80k if the car has been serviced at the correct intervals. 2k to replace if they let go. But if they did, I would go to a specialist and have gt2 turbo's fitted for the same price as k16 OPC replacements.....

2) An intercooler. Unlikely to have problems there.

3) Bigger brakes. Yes they cost more but marginal when you compare it to a standard set, again the sort of thing an independent would do for bugger all.

4) Bigger tires. Well not necessarily, most 911's come on 265-285 18's now and even if they didn't the price difference is peanuts.

That's basically it (more accurately, all I can be bothered to write....).

Go onto Rennlist and look at the milage of the 930's being run. They would have you believe 50k is still being run in.....

Personally, I would wing it, and spend any money you save on extra BHP. Ummmmm......... turbo's........

Come on Bennett, throw away that chicken shit gun - you don't wanna shoot me; you wanna stick a knife in me and see what's going on in there, when you turn it!

In other words, Porsche Turbo? 993 series? Rear aspect like John Wayne about to take out the cotton pickin' varmints?

It'd be rather impertinent not to, eh Roadie?

Well, now that you've put my sexuality into question, I guess I'm forced to set the record straight by getting blown.

The job of which you speak is a much needed therapy to which subscrption I cannot recommend highly enough.

Especially if the turbotic loins are sufficiently girded beyond their normal limits. After which you accelerate events with a violent, primal, almost savage urgency.

UV, I'm moving with the girlie, so I'm putting more cash down as a house deposit now - depleating my original budget. This makes a TT possible, but as long as I don't get shafted too bad. From your collective experiences I have nothing to worry about though. No excuses now then. Roll on spring time!

The OP site has a 993TT with 4k miles since new! Pretty much perfect then. The guy must have had half a dozen cars I guess.

RR - note; 430 upgrade too. As you say, hardly broken in either.

If you can afford the asking this is an uncommon opportunity.

Just consider a slightly rortier exhaust system for a tad more sporting soul and presto; staggering urge, ludicrous grip and compelling driver involvement.

Indeed, you've got me so inspired I think I'll have a damn good thrash myself! Bloody excellent - when do you think you'll be taking delivery?

Schnell, schnell!

Can't until spring I'm afraid. I'm selling my place in london around that time. I'll buy a beastie around that time. It's only a few months away but it feels like a life time. Well at least next summer will be pretty good fun! Looking forward to a Porsche meet up when I have my own steed.

Roadrunner - that'd be a nifty logo to have discreetly motifed somewhere in your car with, of course, a wee emblem of said speedy bird at full pelt.

Beep, beep! (I always loved/still do love that 'toon.)
