Gear change alignment S2

does anybody know about poor gearchange on S2 type N ,the H pattern seems off set 4th is over to the left and back when coming from 3rd. Very easy to select the wrong gear in 1,3,5.I have driven 8 S1,2,3 and drive a sierra everyday (don't laugh to much though thats done 205,000 mint and hardly been touched and only had straight servicing + plenty of waxoyl.)So I know its not right. But what as, there is very little linkage from what i can see ??.bent selector shaft?.
Also can you get just the glass for S2 door mirrors or is it the whole mirror?.

There is a "dogleg" in the gearstick (as the engine and gearbox are mounted so far back in the chassis). In the Sierra the stick is in two pieces with a rubber connector in between. In the S the lower part is joined the the upper by a plate to move the gearstick to a more useable position. These joins sometimes vibrate loose and that may be causing your problem (often preceeded by buzzing or rattling from the stick).

I tried and failed to find a replacement glass for the (early type) door mirror. In the end I got a replacement mirror from Tower View.
