Keep your eyes out as the Scamera vans are on the bridges over the M4 around Swindon again. It is the first one I have seen for a few months and it was there around 3 pm yesterday.

Fair enough, it probably got me (around the 82-85 mark as I was slowing down) and I will have a read of Pepipoo to see what can be done, and wait for the brown envelope in the next 2 weeks. A sad end to a quarter of a millon point free miles.

What really narks me though: was it in either set of roadworks on the M4 around Swindon (both very long 50 zones)? No - it was in the 70 zone past Swindon itself. So much for the focus on safety.....

They may well have been using the lti 2020 dodgy scope - watch "tonight with trevor McDonald", tonight it will give you some ideas if the tax demand does appear.

Thanks for the warning...

I nearly got caught by one of these a couple of months ago (again, before the roadworks in an accident-free area before swindon)...

With respect to that incident - thanks to the fiesta driver on the other carrigeway for the warning.

I reckon you'll be OK Glen.

They're lurking up the A419 as well, on the overbridges and also at the bottom of that big hill heading north away from Swinedon.

Shame they are not doing the section of 50mph roadworks Eastbound from Junction 17.

If anyone does get anything going through that stretch, just say you joined at J17 as they have conveniently only placed a single 50 sign on the slip road, in line with the two either side of the main carriageway. If you were passing a line of lorries on the slip road, as I did on Monday, you don't find out about the resriction until you see the repeaters complete with camera signs - surely incorrect signage?

Count yourself lucky it wasn't in the 50 otherwise you'd have been travelling more than 35 over the limit...! Imagine the penalty then...

Agreed - but there aren't any convenient road bridges in the set west of Swindon, and only 1 in the set east of it....

We will have to wait and see if the urgent braking had the desired effect! Would be intrigued to know their current trigger speeds as I have heard rumours about their abilities to process paperwork in time.

I wait with baited breath!

Yes.

Those 50mph limits are a pain in the a*se though. Every time I drive down that section I feel like I'm being held on elastic. I wouldn't mind if it actually looked like they were doing any roadworks there..!

Not as bad as the roadworks around J18-19...

40mph down the hill - and did they actually do anything.....nope!

Glen, I see them there every week preying on innocent M4 users like parasitic leeches.
Hope you were under their threshold, it would be gut wrenchingly sickening to get points for the low 80's mph.
Most police don't bother with anything under 90, so how these parasites get away with this I don't know, especially as they park dangerously (and probably illegaly) on the bridges.

Agreed - fingers crossed!

Don't see why not.

Any news from the chap that organised the last one.

I'm not sure if Robin will want to get involved again - I'm fairly certain that Paul won't (due to some adverse press IIRC) but I've still got all the flyers in my garage, and am more than happy to run the Leigh Delamere end again.

Saw the van on a bridge above the M9 today just after Grangemouth.
What can the justification be?
Did find it a distraction, spotted them from about 1.5miles away but still noticed I was glancing at the speedo as I approached which is normally the last thing I look at on the M/way.

I'll look at all options. I do have reservations, but that's not due to press. It's due to some folk causing danger and upsetting the police by failing to follow the protest instructions.

Ah yes, IIRC that was a few of the 2 wheeled fraternity deciding to run the protest at 20mph - caused a great deal more notice to be taken, but also some bad feeling.

In view of this, would Wilts BiB allow another protest along their stretch of motorway?
