The street I live in is all double yellows and residents only bays. When our local parking enforcement scum visit they always end up parking their scooters on the double yellows as there isn't enough space even in the residents bays (84 cars for 57 spaces).

Can they do this?

Are tickets produced while illegally parked valid?

They do take the p1ss, don't they?

Round here they whizz up at 1 minute to whatever hour the parking rules change, sling their car on a double yellow, zigzag or pavement, blitz the road with tickets and then whizz off again before anyone can point out the absurdity of the situation.

There is generally an exemption in the No Waiting Order for vehicles used for Police purposes. Check with your LA to view the Order concerned to see if this is so. If not then you have my permission to raise hell....

Ah, but with deregulation of parking, it not "police purposes" any more, is it?

I'm sure the local council have a sufficiently vague and woolly reason as to why it IS valid.

What about the DVLA tax enforcement ANPR vans? - are they allowed to flout the rules too and park illegally? Cos theres one that always parks on the pavement on Greenwich High St in its rentless pursit of achieving world peace, forcing pedestrians to squeeze through the tiny gap of what is left between pavement/wall interface....

Even more annoying is that I even got a letter once demanding I pay a fine for having no tax as a result of driving past it even though I was taxed! As a result every time I drive past it now I give it a nice two-finger salute...

You should have seen me racing around the house trying to find the bloody camera

I did manage to get the builder in the house opposite to avoid a ticket by rushing across the road in my slippers* - good deed for the day

*It's November now, I'm entitled to wear them as we have a wooden floor which I painstakingly sanded and varnished!

Most nights around here you will find a police mercedes van parked on double yellows.
Their favourite spot seems to be the bus stop outside Whetherspoons, on double yellows.
They also like the spot outside the Life boat HQ , where people of lesser status get clamped, with a £300 release.
Their vehicles don't seem to present a hazzard like vehicles of mere mortals do.

No matter what, cant see one being provided for parking on zig zags, so get the camera out, and zap them. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander, get your own clamp, and put it on them, dare I lower my standards, and say slash their tyres whilst they are busy...no I probably shouldnt even mention that thought at all, silly me.
