how to get charger leads onto the battery terminal

I've tried the Accumate trickle chargers that work through te 12v cigar socket and 2 of them have now failed.
I want to attach permanent connections onto the battery itself leading to a plug (which Ill cable tie under the rear wheel arch) so I can easily attach a new trickle charger direct to the battery.

Problem is, how do I get to the battery?

Is there an easy access if the car is jacked up on a ramp?

Help would be appreciated

It's not too bad, jack up the car, take off the offside rear wheel, take out the wheel arch liner (just undo all the screws) and you can get to it reasonably easy.

Make sure you have a short set of spanners to slacken off the terminal nuts - you don't want to short out the battery (and in that vein, take off the negative first so if you do "ground" the positive with the spanner it won't do any harm).

Be careful when "tucking away" the negative terminal to keep it off the battery - it's very springy cable and can easily spring back into position.

Had the same problem with my CTEK and simply gave up as I couldn't be arsed to take the wheel off and crawl around the floor. Popped it into my local garage and the guy there attached them but in the process lost the bloody instruction book. So if anyone has a CTEK Multi XS 3600 and could copy the instruction book I would be happy to buy them a beer

I've put some leads to mine from a fork lift type plug up near the os air filter.
Once it's don it makes jump starts miles easier !!

jump starts not been a problem since I learned to put +ve to the started motor and -ve to the chassis, got to mak a good contact with the chassis tho else it doesnt work!

Why all the need for trickle chargers? Just drive the things!

I don't understand, I only use the Noble about twice a week and i've never had a battery problem. The alarm should only take microamps and the immobiliser shouldnt use anything in the off state, how long does it have to stand to flatten the battery?

I have a trickle charger from Halfords that I used on my elise with a Durite 50amp plug connector, but whit the Noble I just attached a ciggarette plug and it works fine through the cigar lighter thing on the dash.

I reckon you must have something wrong, even my bike batteries last about six weeks, suggest you connect an ampmeter in series between the positive battery terminal and the positive lead (a multimeter will do, you wont blow it up) if it shows anything more than a few milliamps you have a problem someware.

oops!!!!!!!!!!! dodn't turn anything on,only use the meter with everything off.
