Hi Don
Nice pic
IMHO - I would have like to have seen the bottom of those windows. (I'm funny like that - if there is a car, I want to see the whole car, not half a car...etc)
Although the white walls are a bit bleached out, that doesn't bother me at all - gives a real sense of how bright it was.
Was that lands end?

I have a image I could crop which would do that. I'll give it a go! Thanks! GetCarter said:

Nope. It was "The Lizard" - the most Southerly point rather than the most Westerly. Terriffic light house there. I blasted away at it trying to capture lots of its details as it was a bit of a visual feast...
My 4p:
Rotate a few degrees CCW so the horns are vertical. Not sure of the composition but can't think how to make it better - maybe have a little more on the left to reveal the end of semicircular building
You've also blitzed the highlights, which is technically wrong but if you like it, I don't suppose it matters
However if you like 'lots of detail' - that's where a lot of it went!

Thanks! I was checking the highlights at the time but liked the contrast of "snow" white on blue. See your point about getting the horns vertical, too.
Thanks!I think the horns need a bit of space to blow into. Rather than them being on the left hand edge of the photo I would try to put some space between them and the edge of the image. Do you have any other shots that have that space there ? I've done some quick, low quality cloning to try to show you what I mean, though more blue space might be even better.
I quite like the graphic effect of the high contrast version, the lost highlights are a technical problem as Simpo says but you can always have a bit of fun with the original and a curves adjustment layer on a wet Sunday and end up with something with a bit of an Orwellian "1984" feeling...

Odd, they're showing up for me. Happy to email them to you if wanted.
Showing up for me now, too! Great fun. The lower image is brilliant fun! The upper image illustrates your point exactly. Sadly I don't have an original with more to the left of the horns - what was there would have needed cloning out anyway...
Thanks, though. You have convinced me I MUST get around to learning Photoshop properly....and keep at it with the compositional skills.
Constructive criticism and helpful examples MUCH appreciated!
