I noticed the other day I had no water in the coolant tank. I filled it to the max mark and did 10 miles. On checking now it is fully cooled down, the coolant level has dropped by about 20mm. Are there any "usual" places to check, or does it need to be run to check?

My water leak was coming from turbocharger connections. From memory I think a gland wasn't fully tightened. Sorted by my dealer.

Yup, that'll be a hose connection somewhere.
