Ahem, well spotted...looks like the forum software is truncating the auction identifier from the link. Current bid price is £335, which is a bargain - a pair went last week for £485, and new they are £600.

Try this instead. Or otherwise go into eBay and search for "Caterham Seats".

Seats are difficult to price. The tillets are popular because they are standard Academy spec so there are lots of new builds around who can save a couple of hundred sheets by buying second hand. Not sure about the R500 one, though.

Most I've ever paid for a s/h composite Tillet is 150 quid and the least 50 quid...Knowing ebay, Mike's seats will go for 400 the pair. I was under the impression that most Caterham racers go for the foam seat to save cost and weight?..or is this not allowed in some of the classes?

I just purchased an "as new" tillett composite (the black one) for £135 inc the runners.

I am now after a pax side seat and cant believe what they are going for on Ebay, although a pair should collectively fetch more as a pair is more desirable.??, even still a single went a couple of weeks back for £195 on ebay .

If anyone wants to sell a good one then let me know.

Jackal, if yours had been black composite (and cheaper) I wouldve taken that off yer hands in a flash.

The seat is 'free' in Grads. I don't think you even need one at all.

The seat is free in most series, including Roadsports where I used to race. One of the front-runners this year just shoved a few bits of foam around him before each race!

I used a bag seat for 90% of my racing career but some people prefer the look of the Tillet and it seems that they are willing to pay for it...

Slightly off topic, but how the hell do you fit into a Tillet?! I'm not exactly fat, six foot and 14 stone, yet i've tried sitting in one and couldn't squeeze in........

Try baby oil, soap and hot water...and breath in

The entry is narrower than the base so its always a bit of a squeeze, but once you are in they do hold you nice and tight!

You can buy wider tillets - Nigel Bent (Fatcat) fitted them in his SV R500 and they not only looked good, but they also looked like they'd accommodate the "erm" wider frame
