Ah, penny for the guy... childhood memories...

Wanker with crappy guy: "Penny for the guy?"
Me (aged 6): "I haven't got a penny, but I'll give you a crisp for the guy" (hand over a crisp)
Wanker: (throws crisp on ground and treads on it)

Never given them anything since...

I always find it hilarious that we're celebrating a (failed) terrorist bomb attack

Even so, I love bonfire night and enjoy all firework displays, I guess I'm just a pyromaniac who likes big bangs and pretty fires.

Then again, perhaps I've made a bogus comparison here - unlike the recent failed London tube bombers (burning rucksacks and all) which targeted real people , at least old Mr Fawkes had the decency to attempt to only blow up politicians!

apologies for the poor taste in this comment, especially to anyone affected by the 'successful' tube bombs. No apologies to any politicians lurking here, though

We're not celebating a failed bomb attack, we are celebrating catching the wee feckers, and hanging, drawing , and quartering the wee feckers!

Reminds me of an old anarchist poster from the '60s: "Vote for Guy Fawkes - the only man to enter parliament with honest intentions"
