Low mileage Cerb

Hi,
1997 4.2 11700 miles from Hamilton Cars of Bristol, on autotrader site for £18,499
Thinking of joining the club and after having taken out this cerb and an E39 M5 today im on the brink of letting my heart rule my head and taking the large grin option!!!
This is a very low milage car, does anybody know it or the garage?? Guy seemed to know his stuff, car completely standard.
Any hints and tips on low milers like this?? Am planning on running it for 6 months

I've bought two Chimaeras from Dominic and always found him and Andy pleasant to deal with.
My second Chim suffered from head gasket failure and was fixed FoC - I would like to say without fuss, but the problem was a PITA to track down. To Dom's credit he ferried the car to/from me (High Wycombe) two or three times, and also paid for work to be carried out at a more local indie.
He did scale down his TVR sales and concentrate on Porkers shortly after, but he claims it was unconnected with me

Thanks mate reasurring to know that. This would be my 1st tvr after having an evo m3 for the last 4 years. Unfortunately on the test drive the weather was shocking, wet roads, rain, leaves everywhere 
so was very careful but wow what a car!!! Popping and banging away, me with a grin from ear to ear!! 
Does anybody have an idea as to what i could sell it for privetely in 6 months taking the mileage up to 20K??

I would agree - £15k max, assuming it is immaculate.
I would question whether your intentions if you only plan to keep it for 6 months - would something easier to keep and sell on, such as a Boxster or 911 be a better bet (no offence)?
Even an immaculate Cerb could cost you a few thousand over 6 months and a few thousand miles, possibly leaving you looking at a £10k loss when you come to sell privately (but making the next owner very happy I suspect)!

I have had Evo's, Imprezas, M seriesBMWs and ahve recently bought my first TVR (low mileage 4.2) and my god..... this car is the maddest most grin inducing cars in the world, the sound of teh V8 just can't be beat and the Zorst when it's hot... oh god.... sounds like a asthmatic Cannon BANG BANG POP BANG!!!
The M5 is a nice car, Very quick, refined and German built monster This car will NEVER break but I would look for one under warranty just to be sure because Sods law says it's gonna break now I've said it won't LOL
Cerbera, VERY VERY quick and Great fun to drive, this car is raw and in your faceand just wants to pull you apart... this car will kill you if you are not carefull and isn't as easy to drive as the Beemer around town, this is mainly due to the famous 1800-2200 judder type thing... ooohh the Cerbera is Far cheaper to insure, I'm 26 4 points 5 years NCD and pay 560 Fully comp with the Wife on the insurance...... now that is value
Sell on factor, it would be the BMW all day long mate, the Cerbera's, although everyone loves em, are hard to shift, they are in a strange range of car... Rich pompus people head toward the Porker or Ferrari purely for badge and how good it looks at the Golf club, Mid life crisis people want one but the wife won't let them hae on because it's not practical...
I swore that I would have one from the day I first saw one... I know own one and dont think I will ever sell her because she CANNOT be parelleled by any other car, I said I would only own her for 6 - 12 months but nope looks like a life long romance mate LOL

Having seriously considering the cerb a few years ago i decided against it on the reliability/cost issue and so stuck with the M3.
Im now looking to move abroad in 6 months and thought lets have a change and move up for my last 6months of motoring in the uk. Obvious choice to move up from the M3 for me was the E39 M5 (another car i seriously considered). But in the back of my mind i still had the cerb beast and the thought of a permanant grin for 6 months.
So i thought maybe one of those reliable/sorted cerbs will give me 'relatively cheap/reliable' motoring over the short period of time id have her and i could live the dream if only for a short time. A 10k loss over 6 months however does not fill my heart with joy and for obvious reasons swings me back in the 'sensible' M5 option.

Mate..... there is NOTHING sensible about the Cerbera, it is a balls out, Raw toy the market may pick up and the car could stay at eactly the same price as you bought it for the only problem is finding somone to buy it because as I said before it doesn't really fall in to any pre-defined owner category, it is an inpractical dream car.
The people on that own the Cerbera are Die hards which means they don't mind paying for all the repairs, they are never gonna sell the car etc etc
For teh sake of 6 months mate, I would seriously buy the M5 or maybe an E46 M3 coupe as they are coming down in price sharpish (unless that what you already have of course and not the E36)
At the end of the day the choice is yours, you may want to speak to the dealer and say how much would you buy her back for in 6 months time with x ammount of miles on her etc etc see what he has to say
