Should buying an Exige (or Elise) come with a health warning?

Since first enquiring about the Exige 6 weeks ago, my partner and I have been struck down with a terrible illness - loss of appetite, unsettled stomach, loss of sleep, lack of concentration...

..then suddenly since taking delivery a week ago, we've been cured...just like that!

Is it normal to be so excited about something that your adrenaline goes into overdrive and makes you sick??? Is it a ploy that Lotus have devised...you look at their cars, they make you ill, and the only way to cure yourself is to have one on your driveway?

Has anyone else been a victim of this?

Unfortunatly it gets worse. Before I recieved my liz, I attended the gym regularly. I get in the car drive to the gym and dont stop. I am fat, unfit and blissfully happy!

It gets worse, as the only way to stay well is to constantly look at ways of modding your car. . .

Not alone !!!!, the primary purpose of this forum is to provide support to us poor lost souls.

Poor = cos we spend to much on the cars
Lost = cos some of us dont have GPS

I can only verify this. Right now I've been waiting for my Elise for a week and it's really made me sick.
Picking it up tomorrow.Finally
Haven't been able to sleep much for the last 5-6 days.
Won't be able to sleep much after I get it 'cause I'll probably spent all my time finding excuses to drive it. Will this never end ?

and then you join this forum and some kind chap starts a group buy for something which you don't actually need but cannot resist... ie Larini Sports exhaust.

Also towns such as Bracknell and Milton Keynes have a strange lure. I cannot stop myself from hunting large roundabouts just to see - yet again - how much grip the Elise has!!!!

I can verify what I said about thinking 'bout driving it all the time. When I finally got the car I felt a lot better. But now all I'm thinking of is driving it again. And again. And the weather is crap so I can't/won't. *sigh*

I can totally sympathise cej!
I've had the zige for 9 days now, and out of those 9 days, there's been about 3 dry days - and of course they've been weekdays typically! Even on dry days it's still been wet out and about so I haven't had a chance to have a real blast yet...grrrrrr....so frustrating!

it will get better...I hope..it bloody well needs to or I want a refund! (never...)

Wait till she does the zig zag and the burger run!

oh god....I'm in trouble now...what have I done!!!!!!!!!!

time to buy some new shoes for the job so I can start dancing on those pedals! (great excuse for retail therapy)

I have experienced zigzag hill before so I know what it's like - that makes it even more worrying!

jeeez the big man has thrown down the gauntlett...there may be trouble ahead!!!

welcome to the crew minidiva, the car looks AMAZING, love to see it in the flesh!

An early sign you've got the bug really bad is NOT when you come out for burger runs, but in fact it's when you (like i did) go out practicing the roads on your own so you can keep up with the loons at the front

my solo mission to zig zag was one of the most amazing drives i've ever had.. can't wait to get out there again in the dry

Waouwww NICE POST

It is effectively incredebile hom much time I spend thinking, reading, dreaming, planning about the elise. I AM NOT ALONE, thanks God.
As Stirling Moss was saying, Straight lines are only ennoying bits between nice curves (or something like that), I would say, "Work and sleep are only long moments between escape in Elise..."

I can think of nothing worse than taking delivery of a new Elise or Exige at the moment.

Having such a great car during such crappy , wet and slippery conditions without being able to use it to its full potential is hugely frustrating which is why i have bought a Rover to use during the winter.

Roll on dry warm days.

I got my 'Liz exactly 1 year ago. I must say that learning to drive her in the crummy conditions of winter taught me to build up the speed gently (I always assume the worse) and taught me the limits in bad conditions, that is my driving benchmark!

WHAT IS WITH THIS WEATHER!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry guys, but I think all this bad weather is MY fault! I think I have a rain curse - it's SO unfair.

I picked up my car after having a couple of bits done to it, they'd been really good down at westovers and washed it for me - it was looking sweet.
It's been dry All Day then literally 1 minute down the road and the rain came down like I've never seen it before - like a frikkin sideways monsoon.
This was the first time that I have been Really concerned about the Yoko tyres - the roads were like raging rivers, wipers on full blast, glare right in my eyes from every one elses lights, and what with my windscreen resembling a semi-transluscent leaopard when the wipers pass over it, I may as well have closed my eyes!!

Fortunately I made it home OK after getting the hump and deciding to abort the shopping run - it was the worse journey ever!

you're just as unlucky as me. When I went to pick up my car yesterday the weather was fine.
That is until I got in the car and all hell broke lose. The clouds really opened up.Big time. Like a flood.
I could barely see anything and had to drive very slow. Got a little better on the way home ,but not much.
And today when I have to work all day and there no time to go for a drive, the weather is fine
