Yesterday, I was admiring my car () whilst I was waiting for the alarm system to be tweeked when I noticed something strange about the brake disks.

Right, now lets assume the car is moving forward, then on on the drivers side of the car, the slot profile will goes from the centre of the disk outwards to the outside of the disk, as I would expect (centrifugal pattern etc)

However, on the passenger side, the slots go from the outside of the disk to the centre, a bit like a vinyl record (some of you younger viewers may not know what this is but it was how music was distrubuted before CDs and iPods).

Is this the same for ALL 05 VXRs, or have they put a set of drivers side disks on the passenger side.

The disc is the same for noth sides. ie they dont manufacture a left side and right side. As an aside, the direction of vains inside the disc usually dictated left and right, not the exterior veins.

Dont feel cheapened by it mate, even the Lotus Elise has this "feature" (I helpfully pointed it out when I toured the factory). When I wacked some slotted Brembos on my alfa, they were left and right specific. As long as heat and gasses have a slot to escape into, thats the main thing. I would guess that the real world difference in braking performance for us would be imperceptible. There is a set of Brembos you can get that have slots going up in a volcano shape from the centre of the disc to the outside, meaning they effectively have slots in both directions.
