A few photos from a very wet Crawley and A23 between Pease Pottage and Handcross today.

It was so bad when I got out of the car on the A23 I had condensation form between the lens and filter on the camera. the faces on some of the drivers are a picture aswell.

Here we go.

Why on earth don't they have this event in July? At least the rain will be a bit walmer

Fantastic set of shots in very damp conditions. I think you really convey the spirit of the event.

Martin, I suspect the time of year might have something to do with history, but probably no harm in rewriting it! Unless of course that means reintroducing the man with the flag.

Still, nice to have pun in the rain, walmer or not.

Have to echo the other comments - cracking shots which capture the moments - but I'm with te51cle - glad I was not there really, weatherwise.

Worth the monochrome treatment I think:

I like it

Shame the weather was so bad, not much fun getting soaking wet.

That looks great...is there a filter that adds grain?...and maybe the odd scratch or too?

Martin.

There's one called 'Add Noise' but it looks a bit artifical I think. Generally speaking old photos were damn sharp and emulsions were slow so grain isn't the big deal you might think.

The last picture is AW38 - Boanerges "Bo".

I went down to Brighton in this in about 92 - it is the college mascot of City and Guilds College (now part of Imperial College) - hence the outfits in college colours.

Great to see it there, brings back some great memories. (though luckily it didn't rain when I did it).

Interesting stuff:
Made by James and Browne of Hammersmith
2 1/2l twin cylinder engine putting out 9HP]
Works on continuous drip-feed 'total loss' oil system.
Throttle is confusingly a lever on the steering wheel.
AW38 is a number that used to belong to "Armstrong Whittley".
"Bo Driver" is an offical union position.
The other vehicle is "Derrick" (named in a competition in the 1960s!) which is a ner-a-car (motorcycle).
The Royal College OF Science (also part of Imperial) have an old Fire engine called "Jezebel" or "Jez"

Isn't PH amazing? You show a photo of a veteran car and a PHer has not only been in it but knows what gearbox oil it takes. You ask a question about Antarctica and a PHer has been there... I never cease to be amazed!

Virtual photographer strikes again:

All those were presets with upped ISO, loads of presets and infinite tunability.

If you haven't got it, get it. It's free.

Lovely pics BTW, a real record of the event.
