Already done my theory test, and passed.

Went to the show at the NEC last Monday, and bought a helmet (Shoei XR-1000, £200, for those that need the detail).

Can't afford the ski trip this year, so Mrs D has suggested I do my direct access instead...

and if you think it's strange buying gear without a licence or a bike, my plan is to buy a bit each month or so, rather than shelling out for it in one go...

You will not regret it officer

Well done on the theory.

After i did my CBT i decided to get my kit straight away as i felt more comfortable in my own gear rather than borrowng the schools stuff. I didnt buy leathers though only textiles for use in wet also. Will save for leathers when the weather gets better for next year and i have a years no claims for a nicer bike

Have fun

I bought my kit before I did my DAS, turned out to be a wise choice in the miserable December weather. The Ride kit tests are generally very good if you're looking for recommendations on what to buy.

Steve.

Just bought "Ride" magazine, like the look of the Hein Gericke gore tex stuff - not cheap at £250 for the jacket, but then I'll be using it in all weathers...

Hi Dibs. Haven't seen you posting for a while.

Just make sure you buy your kit in neutral colours and you don't buy a yellow jacket and then go on to buy a red Ducati! (Not that I'd be that stupid)

Not had much to say... Well, not anything that won't get me in trouble with the powers that be!

I was thinking black. Or maybe black and grey...

Hein Gericke stuff is generally rated as good value for money. Don't skimp on the gear. Buy the best you can afford, especially helmet boots and gloves.

Aim to buy what you would hope to end up with. Otherwise you'll end up spending more in the long run.

Yep, I definitely agree with annsxman and rsvmille's advice. Buy the gear you'd like to be wearing in a spill.

Having come off at 20mph on dirt, which hurt like and left me with a scar from skin loss, I dread to imagine what a higher speed crash would be like ...
