Bought a battery conditioner the other day as the Elise will be garaged for winter. Although the battery conditioner has two large crocodile clips I wanted to change them to metal washer type connectors so I could keep them permanently screwed to the battery.

The battery in the 111R is a bit tricky to get to and taking it out would make it easier to screw on the connectors. If I disconnect the battery do I have to re configure the immobiliser, key fob and sterio?

Alternatively are the main battery cables long enough to allow me to move the battery into the middle of the boot whilst I connect the batter conditioner?

Can only answer this bit, as it is the only experience I have covering your Qs, the answer is no. I disonnected my battery whilst away for 3 weeks, came back reconnected it all and it worked fine first time

If you don't mind me asking, why are you putting the Eilse away for winter? There'll still be a few dry / clear days!

I don't use it during the week and I'm off to the US next week so thought I'd put it to bed now.

No doubt that at the slightest hint of a sunny weekend it'll be out again.

Soon as I got my S2 I wired in the Optimate connector by disconnecting the battery (negative earth so negative first off and last on !). Only impact of disconnecting the battery was that the alarm started giving a loud beep on enable/disable.
