Used the parents car to pick them up from Stansted airport tonight and their radio only seems capable of receiving Radio 2! What surprised me though was to hear Ed Stewart still going after all these years - and still the same theme from the previous century when I last heard him with "where are they now" etc

I thought he was at least dead by now!

Yeah, listen to Stewpot still

His slot on Radio 2 was once held be the likes of Sam Costa and Charlie Chester (shows how old I am).

He does the 'god show' in his irritatingly gushing manner.
Just what you DON'T want to hear during your Sunday lie-in.

Time religion was banned from the radio and tv.

My family possess a tape of me requesting a song from Stewpot, aged 2 or 3

It was played at my wedding - very embarrassing

The song? Nelly the Elepant!

What "God show" is that?

I do find him mildly irritating but overall I like the music he plays - plus there is that "nostalgia" element as well. I reckon he'll play "Nellie the Elephant" for you if you ask - he played "My Brother" today .

I think a little confusion over Don Maclean on between 0700-0900 Sunday and Ed Stewart 1700-1900 Sunday, either that or it's hell of a lie in you have on Sundays

To be fair on Radios 2 and 4, their "God" slots make up a fairly insignificant portion of their total air time. They are easily avoided if they annoy you.
