I would highly recommend these guys as well as being the best price when I was looking for mine they also offer an excellent service when you do stupid things like not use it for ages & lose all installed programs! They return unit fully re-installed within 48 hours.
There is some on there below £300 too but try to go for Tom Tom 5 as a minimum as it is fantastic & much better than previous versions with it having postcodes etc on it.

It's primarily for use on foot with the ability to take those new OS maps in 3d to show all the terrain but i think some of them come with road route maps installed and montings for the car etc.
