Oil Pressure Sensor

Hi All

I need a new oil pressure sensor for the Chim. Apparently TVR sold out ages ago and as yet have not produced/received any new stock (quelle surprise).

Anyone know where I can get one from?

Hi Nuggs,how low is 'impending doom' ? On a hot day in grid lock,sometimes mine would show 10 psi on Mobil 1.Been higher since Austec checked sender unit and changed to Valvoline.
BTW, what will go on in "Nuggsworld" ?

Errr.... less than zero! My sensor is kaput, and so the gauge is no longer reading.

There's some photos on there at the moment from various meets etc. I'd like to get some useful TVR/Chimaera-related articles on there in time; just need to pull my finger out!

What were the advantages in going to Valvoline and what pressure do you get now?

I lied, it's now reading way off the scale at the other end. I have enough oil pressure for everyone!

Mine was reading zero. At Bruntingthorpe. At 145mph.

It came back when the engine cooled down. Offord fitted a new sensor when they serviced it a few weeks ago & now it reads 60psi when cold.

Lies, damn lies and TVR oil pressure, eh?

I've been advised by a number of those 'in the know' that the oil warning light is the one to go from (assuming it's working!)

Chris, I used Austec and they supply Valvoline, I have thought for a long time that it seemed odd for a '62 Buick lump to need cutting edge stuff like Mobil 1,pressure perhaps 10 psi better on Valvoline,could of course be the sender unit having been checked by Austec.
As Nuggs said,keep an eye on the warning light!

BTW, pressure now,20psi hot idling,45 cruising speed.
