Passenger Door Not Closing Properly

Howdy people,

My passenger door is having a hard time closing these days. Once it is closed it stays that way (luckily) but is a real pain in the but to get it to close.

The door doesnt seem to have sagged but just that the catch is not 'holding' the bar on the door when it is engaged. I can close the catch over with my finger and open it/pull it back with my finger too (if ya know what I mean). Should I be able to do this? Shouldnt it only re-open when the door mechanism is depressed?

I hope atleast some of this makes sense.

Anyone had any similar experiences? Would a generous dose of WD40 help to ease the mechanism? Does it sound like I may be up for a new door mech?

On the body striker plate there are two screws from memory, loosen these off and your can move where the catch sits.

Loosen them, shut the door and then reopen carefully and tighten, this sometimes help the striker plate sit where it wants to be.

Assuming the striker side of things is OK you may want to check whatever pops the door open.
On mine the knob inside works cables, if the L/H cable is stuck this would stop the lock from locking properly. Same applies to whatever opens the door from the outside button/door mirror etc. Basically, it could be something not allowing the lock to work rather than an adjustment.
