Rusty brake pads on Boxster S

Yes, less than 2 years old and the bloody discs are pitted on my 03 Boxster S. Apparently my dealership advises me that its because i live on the Salty East Coast. B**lloc** springs to mind, but then again Prosche seem to know best. Never mind i thought i still have some warranty left. Yes youve guessed it. What warranty...B**lloc** again because the discs are not covered. So thats £1200 then i guess. Where do i go from here? Porsche UK appear to have no interest or concern and i cant seem to see anything in the sales literature which refers to disc replacement every 12000 miles as been a unique selling point.
I feel inclined to sell the bloody thing. Can anyone offer any glimmer of hope. Do i fit new discs and will it happen again if i do.

The short answer is yes.
The discs on my C2 have now covered 28thmls and have been pitted since i bought the car at 15thmls.
If the brakes work ok then dont bother changing them,because unless you live in north africa porsche discs will rust

Surely you aren't really going to let something as trivial as a couple of brake discs spoil your enjoyment of the car? They shouldn't be particularly expensive to replace if you do need to, although corrosion would need to be quite severe before it required replacement discs.

£300 on a Boxster 2.5 for replacement of my front disks and pads at an indie using genuine parts. I think you know the answer

My advice is to drive the car more. Polish that rust off with your brake pads. We got our car in July of '04, and in 22,000 miles, there hasn't been time for the discs to rust.

I know this thread is a little old, but always try www.essentialstyling.com/brakes.htm for Porsche brakes.

Just had my rear disks & pads done for my Boxster S. Around £200 for the parts from above and my local garage charged £60 to fit them...

I found that my Boxster disks looked a bit dull/pitted by 25,000 miles and even a track day didn't clean them up as I might have expected. The original pads were down towards the wear markers at the end of that track day and new pads fitted shortly afterwards (Textar jobbies, DIY fitted in approx 1hr) cleaned up the disks in no time. Remember if you buy the Zimmerman replacement disks, you need to paint the central rotor 'hats' like they do for the OEM spec versions or else these will rust and look dreadfull very quickly.
