Grabbing games from gamespot is a pain in the arse - windows only lets 2 files fly down at once, and it takes an entire day of clicking, waiting, clicking, waiting to get a few dozen videos (some are big)

Is there a way one can enable more than 2 right click save as downloads at the same time? So that several are all downloading simultaneously?

You can up the max number of connections but may get limited by the destination server. For broadband I would reccommend no more than 4-6 depending on speed of broadband connection.

I think the limit applies per domain name(ie 2 downloads from microsft.com and 2 from pistonheads.tv etc). I might be wrong I don't use IE much these days.

To up the limit you can follow this

I don't tend to download lots of stuff, but the Firefox download manager looks as if it supports concurrent downloads?

Firefox still has the max connections thingy but you get at that using about:config in address bar

network-max-http-connections-per-server=8

Dunno if the download manager gets round it but it will speed up general web browsing a bit on image rich sites

Firefox rarely does more than two at a time, Opera seems to handle a few at a time and it has a pause/restart feature built in, very handy.

How about using a download manager? I've been using Flashget for approximately 3 months now and have been very happy with the free version ( just install it but don't register it). You can download multiple items at once and pause and restart downloads any time you want.

Flashget Hack allows you to slit your down loads into 30 parts for more efficient use of your bandwidth.

It integrates nicely with I.E. and Fire fox (Flashgot).

Best of all even I was able to figure out how to work it!

Take a peek at the links and see what you think.

I never said I was willing to fiddle about with settings

I like the look of this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/18311 but am not sure that Im feeling brave enough to edit the registry.

I found a program that may interest you, UKBob.

Assuming you haven't found a fix for I.E.'s limited download problem yet.
