Discussion
Ive just got my head above water financialy ,but something has come along that is looking a rather good deal and its more or less to the tune of 10K(which is a bargain) do i stick or should i jump, ime teetering right on the edge.
Although i can be very adventurous i also have this careful switch and cant decide wether ime punching outside my weight.
If it was 20K or even 15 it would be out of the question but nearer 10k as it is and i can get hold of the money tomorrow.
need some feedback.

If it's the widow of a Nigerian politician needing the £10k as 'grease money' to get £10m released into a Swiss bank account of which you'll get 10% I'd steer clear.
Stop trying to discourage us because you want all the action yourself!
Im off down the Western Union now before you steal the deal.
Will whatever it is hold it's value? If you could sell it in a crisis and get a decent amount back then I'd be more inclined to go for it.
Sounds to me like you've got the cash staring you in the face so you're getting tempted to spend it. If possible put the money out of reach and try to forget about it. Try putting it into a building society accound then leave the book with a (trusted!) relative or something...

More info needed Cliff. If its a night with a dozen escorts including 'all services' then obviously go for it!
Its a vehicle that will be collectable in say a decade,it would normally book 15-18k and if i got stuck could always search for a buyer and recover atleast what i paid although i would just prefer to buy it and keep it standard as an investment for the future.
Sorry to disapoint but i learned long ago about spending big ££££ on pissupables.

If its purely for investments sake Id say no dont bother because you could always hunt for another if you were dead set on the odea later.
If, however, its a car you are particularly passionate about so it doubles as an investment/dream then go for it!
My tuppence for you.
Cars as pure investments aren't usually (ever?) a very good plan...but if you plan to use it then fair play.ZR1cliff said:

Just bear in mind that due to inflation, money (historically) doubles every ten years or so. Will this car be worth more £20k in 10 years? If so, it's simply matched the economy in real terms.....
My advice would be to steer well clear - you dont' know for a fact what it'll be worth and when (if you did you'd be very wealthy) and so stick your £10k in a decent bond and you'll have less sleepless nights and a lot less maintenance/storage costs to pay.
Cars are like art in this respect. If you want to own it and love it, then it's a good investment because it enhances your life. If you're going to be maintaining it just on the off chance that it will be worth something in 10 years, what's the point? If you don't have a lot of loose change lying around, then it seems high risk, and the payback is a long long way away.
I wouldn't bother. Look at the miracle of compound interest instead
Or buy something that makes your tummy turn over and love it. If it's worth more later, then you've got a double whammy

Great advice yet again although my view on money is i get more fun out of spending it rather than watching it in an account, ime a little irresponsible like that.
Respect all your feedback and am giving all posts some real thought.

It would be loved as one of my babies, and it would enhance my life as far as i know such cars inside out and would enjoy working on it,but i dont want them to take over.....this would probably be the risk.
Ime not too worried about compound interest life is for living, ile always graft a living till the day i die,no early retirer here
Ime only looking at value as concerns what i buy it for compared to what i can sell it for if it turns out i made a mistake and ime sure ime covered there.
Thanks for your feedback its made me clear up any doubts, its been on my mind for a few days now and i just wanted some kickback and ime now getting the burning in my stomach of excitement so ime going for it.

although ide rather hit them at 200+ plus in my modified one as it becomes more of a glancing blow.... berbumph...
