slightly tough opening the bonnet...one good twist and open she pops.

then try and close it again and can't get one side to catch....that's because the bloody aluminium rod has sheared off where it goes in the the plastic thingy (stop me if i'm getting too technical).

Can fix it by putting thinner rod through and couple of pins, but is there another more elegant fix that doesn't involve me bending over at the dealer?

Hi (this part of a previuos thread)
Yes you can adjust them, if you take the panel off that covers the rods you can see at the end of the ali rod there are nuts just and a thread you adjust the rod that way . If it is not home thight the bonent will lift over at high speed . Mine kept snapping so I cut them open and put a metal rod down the tube to prevent this from happeing after the third time they snapped . good luck.

...otherwise, get a long bolt with diameter that can be snuggly threaded into the rod. Turn the bolt part of the way in, saw the head off, then turn the broken end onto the other half of the thread until the two parts of the rod come together again. This should be pretty strong - the fix worked for me.
