I need roadband for the office/workshop and one for home

I'm geussing that I don't need huge tranfer capability. What are the cheapest deals ATM, does anyone do a buy one get one free

The workshop is already broadband enabled, what do I need to do to get it changed to the new supplier

I've been working with computers for 10 years you'd think I'd know this wouldn't you

Cool, do you just ring them up and they post you the kit or what

Don't think I need 2mb for the workshop, it'l only be sending the od mail, searching the net for parts/services etc

I was hoping for £10 for 512kb sort of thing

You can do it all through their website...

Ahh, just though, this is if ukonline have their kit in your exchange, they have done a lot, not all though. Their website tells you the options basically.

www.adslguide.org.uk is the place to compare, though dont pay much attention to the pricing as its often out of date.

I would suggest a router at the home end and a USB modem at the workshop end.

Then create a VPN between the two.

Virtual Private Network.

Allows you to connect and control both machines in a private secure tunnel over the internet.

Basically you could have someone cold calling at home using your database in the workshop.

And lay in bed until someone calls rather than spend January sitting in a shed like a brass monkey with a soldering iron

UKOnline are only £9.99 a month if you are in an LLU (Local Loop Unbundled) area. If you aren't (and unless you are in a city, chances are you aren't) then the cost is £19.99. PIPEX are cheaper at £14.99. OK, PIPEX is capped at 1GB, but seeing as you aren't a heavy user, no big deal.

I would be tempted to go for NTL at home, also get cable into the bargain (as you have no TV aerial).
Think NTL do £15/month for basic TV and 2Mb broadband with unlimited download.
I've got Telewest because they do the same deal down 'ere in the c'untry.
