Just trial fitted the ProCharger onto the current engine today.

Here are the pics.

It's as tight as a nuns do-dah but it fits.
It's goin to require a small bulkhead mod for the pulley on the supercharger itself but the crank and tensioner pulley are fine.
You can also see the blow-through bonnet that will be used. The throttle body on the new EFI system is same size as the carb.

Cheers Dave

Looks Good Dave!

I assume this will not be intercooled judging by the space constraints? Will you keep the boost below 8psi then? Or do you plan for methanol injection like Mark used on his Turbocharged Can-Am to prevent detonation? Just curious.

Should be a blast next year!

Hi Tony

It is going to be intercooled with a 4 cell air to water chargecooler and two pre-rads.
The chargecooler water jacket will be split into two, with two inlets and two returns.
The supplied pulley should give me about 10psi. I'll see what sort of power that gives me.

Cheers Dave

Not to thread jack, but how does the rear bulkhead on the Can AM compare to the GTR? Are they identical except for where the Can AM's rear bulkhead stops? (i.e. modifications almost identical to get that type of setup to work on a GTR?)

Very nice setup and looking forward to seeing how the plumbing and packaging comes together. Big fan of the prochargers.

these things could help make big power motors! suprised to see how far foward the S/C sits! in all the pics i had seen it looked as though they sat further back! glad it all fits though and with the 12rib pully you will beable to run higher boost, if you wanted to. but i recon 10psi should give you some very goood results!

how much you recon your ProCharger setup will cost over and above the price of the base engine???

cant wait to see what results you can get from it!

thnaks Chris.

WOW! Definitely interested in seeing this progress. Sounds like a sweet set-up. Forced Induction ROCKS! Do you have a website that you are showing your progress on? If not, please keep us updated in the forum here. Thanks.

Interested to see/hear more about your chargecooler setup, as that's the next step on my turbo setup. Who's doing it - Pace?

Are you going to use a kinsler or similar carb style throttle body that sits under the hat or...?

If so how you planning on dealing with the extra air pressure caused by the throttle closing, a simple dump valve, or a recirculating setup...
(guess it partly depends on where you plan to put the map/airflow sensor)

Answers to questions.

1- Your right about the bulkhead. This setup would be easier in a GTR due to the extra height.
2- ProCharger setup including the chargecooler, pre-rads, water pump, header tank, dump valve, pumbing, cold air intake and air filter I estimate will cost me between £3500 and £4000. Not bought it all yet.
3- Pace Products are building the chargecooler and pre-rads for me for which I am doing the drawings on Autocad at the moment.
4- I am using the Holley MPFI system which uses a carb style throttle body so the bonnet will fit straight on. A simple dump valve will be used when the throttle body valves are shut.
5- I will post more pics as the project continues.

Cheers for all the interest

What's the idea with dual-cores and two pre-rads? Most designs ive seen are just one big unit, including mine which is still in the mockup stage:

Although Ive heard Snap-on toolboxes take more boost

I'd imagine it's a packaging thing. There's not a lot of space and water is much easier to plumb about compared to great big air pipes. Provided you can keep the efficiency up on the rads and chargecooler then it should work out at least as good as or better than an air-air intercooler just because the route the air would have to travel to make it fit.

As far as the pre-rads are concerned its about as getting as much cooling as possible. One up front and a small one in my R/H carbon side pod. L/H pod is for the cold air feed to the supercharger.
Splitting the water jacket into two will increase the cooling effect as long as the pre-rads are doing their job. Coolant will be fed in at the first and third cells, outlets on cells two and four.

Don't start getting any more ideas, Simon! You've got enough to do this winter as it is

Great pics Dave. It's a miracle how you got it to fit!!

Has anyone thought of taking the charger drive from the starter ring (i.e. rear of the engine rather than the front pulley) - the charger doesn't know where it's sitting and there appears much more room back there.

I notice a small hole on my gearbox that exposes the starter ring (I'm guessing for maintenance lubrication?) could this be used.

i have seen a supercharger gear driven of the starter ring, but it was on an IRL moded engined for use! take a llok at brammo's web site for more info.

i think you find most are taken of the front of the engine because thats the easiest place to locate them on a front engined rear wheel drive car! and thats where wost V8s (well the ones that you guys use) are found! doesn't mean it can't be done though!!!!

thanks Chris.

I think driving of a std ring gear would be incredibly noisy.
