I've been trawling the web, to try to find a replacement for the broken (lid will not close) hinged lid compartment in the centre console below the stereo unit.
It's the compartment where the Racelogic t/c control switch was sited on the VT model (HSV UK cars).
There is nothing inside it, but I guess it is for an ashtray?
Can't find one, I've searched under ashtray & centre console compartment. Anyone know what it is called or better still a good place to order one from. Can't find one on Rarespares. Thanks.

Cubby hole door?

Dunno, just tried that and got lots of results but haven't yet investigated further.

it is listed as a "Storage Compartment"......

the only problem is there are a few colour options! but I think you are after part number 92050753 which is the door assembly in Aztec Charcoal..............

PS. it is a common fault for the small hinge pin to drop out and the door drops on the left side.

If you can find the pin just add a bit of glue to the end and re fit

Very many thanks to you all, hopefully it won't cost a fortune.
Paul, my VT had the slipping pin problem, but I can't see what has bust on this one. Initially it got stuck closed so I gently prised it open, now it won't close!
Annoyingly, I don't use it & doubt that It's been opened & closed more than a dozen times!
It's a very cheap looking part, but heh I would have bought an Audi if I had wanted a quality interior.

Should be the same as the 2004 monaro I would have thought as the interior I think is the same as my VX, which is the same as the VT.

Thanks Jase. Can anyone else confirm this? If it is the case I should be able to get one via the local Monaro dealer. Or would it be cheaper to get one via Aus. anyway?

Paul, Just spoke to Drive Vauxhall. The Monaro part no. is for the whole unit & costs £16.& is in the U.K so next day delivery.
The no. for the Door Assembly couldn't be found.
There is a cogged plastic wheel/drum & I guess there is a catch that locks on to it to hold the door closed. But without taking the box out, I can't see whats wrong.
Have you any idea of the part no. for the complete unit in the correct colour?
Thanks, Tom.

the complete unit for a Monaro is 92146467 and only comes in black....

The complete unit for VT/VX is 92105502 (compartment) & 92050753 (door) & 92103515 (latch) in charcoal.....

ps... it is only held in with 2 screws (one each side)

Paul, Can't work out how you remove the one piece trim that surrounds the gear lever & housees the window switches. I've unscrewed the two screws (one either side of the lighter socket) popped out the leather gear gaiter & lifted up the trim piece. But the housing for the window switches stops me from lifting it out & backwards?

prize the bit behind the window switches (silver trim) up about 1 inch then it will move back a bit more....to remove it you will need to pull out the plugs under the switches.

Hi, I think I might know the item you are looking for. If your car is a genuine HSV, then the compartment I think you are referring to (small, hinged lid compartment behind gearbox lever and in front of larger console bin) is a HSV specific part fitted into the normal Holdens cup holders - it originally contained a HSV torch, tyre press guage and wheel nut cover removal tool, it also has the cars build no. and logo on the lid. If this is the case, I had mine replaced a year or two ago (on VX Clubsport R8 - i believe this is VX GTS in UK). This part was only available from HSV and they required the cars build and VIN numbers, to confirm the car was a genuine HSV, before the local Holden/HSV dealer was allowed to procure one for me. I know this sounds a bit pedantic, but I don't disagree with HSV's attempts to control HSV specific parts to stop the lookalike attempts (not a big prob in UK, but in Oz...) to depreciate the quality of a superior product. I suggest an email enquiry to HSV may be of help.

Thanks Andrew, Its the hinged box directly under the stereo.
Paul, Thanks for your patience, if I follow your last instruction can I pop the box out?
Unfortunately the VT/VX part no.s are no go from the Vauxhall dealer.
Worried that the Monaro (black) box will not fit as the V/Hall imported Monaro's have VY dashes don't they?
If thats the case I'll get one sent from Aus.

I'd be interested in some globes. My rear demister & heater speed control globes are out.

I've sent you a mail which details how you would remove the dash fascia and how to repair the speed converter board. It's 3.8MB so apologies if you're on dial-up.
