Can anyone help please.

I've gone wireless at home and the connection between Laptop and desktop is fine. Both have internet connectivity and e-mail, BUT I cannot seem to configure it to transfer files and share folders. Feels like I've tried everything under the sun.

When I click on MY Network places I get an ADMINISTRATION ERROR message. I've made MY DOCUMENTS folder available to share on both PC and Laptop (right click properties, tick share) but keep getting the admin msg.

Any idea where I'm spooning it up ?

You need to have the login details the same on both PC and laptop, or accounts on both at least. same user name and password

Yep you need the same credentials

So on both boxes you need a user called Shadytree or whatever with the same password.

I thought that was a pre-SP2 hack, not a solution

Can you map a drive on the laptop to the PC My docs share using a qualified user name like Desktopshadytree? If yes, then make it persistent, which my slow booting down by a few secs, but will make life easier all round.

When you map a network drive in Windows, ticking the persistent box means that when it reboots, it'll remember the mapping and use it again. Useful for those things on the home network you access quite often. Works with NASes too...
