We have a good arrangement at home, it seems to work well.

We both work full time.

I do the decorating and any other house repairs, I cut the lawns, clean the windows, wash our cars, clean the bathrooms, empty the rubbish bins, do the hoovering, the dusting and most of the ironing.

I'm very tidy and don't leave things laying around but my wife does a bit so I usually get her to have a tidy up before I clean and hoover, altough I do often have a good old tidy up as well.

My wife does most of the cooking and sorts out the laundry and does most of the banking and bills (paid by both of us).

My wife says she likes the fact that I'm a tidy guy and house proud and that she is lucky that I don't mind sharing the chores.

How's does it work in your house and is there any friction?

I forgot.

Car repairs are one of my chores too, although the car being repaired is usually mine since the wife always has a fairly new car.

Cars are always "yours" (i.e. mine ) when they need money spending on them and "mine" (i.e. hers) when she wants to use them... Funny old world init?

I do it all, but then not got much choice. Then when hubby comes home, he makes the odd coffee............I really am gonna have to work on this.

And no he isn't tidy when he gets home, he walks through the door and spreads like a virus, never seen anything like it. Sometimes glad to see the back of him cos he takes his rubbish with him. only joking my love

Kids are tidy, but then I've brought them up

Still working on the dog But he's still young he can learn.

I do everything in my house.. even the washing!

The way i see it, I don't own an iron, so thats a good reason not to do any.

I work, she doesn't. I do all the financial stuff as well as all the car related stuff including maint and servicing. She looks after the children during the day, does the chores and the cooking. The garden is hers but I cut down all the big stuff (I'd tarmac it given the choice).

I used to think I had the better deal but recently I'm not so sure.

You obviously haven't got kids yet, plus you're both working.

In our case, we've got four kids and the wife doesn't work, so it's a little less complicated. So, in summary "I earn it and she spends it on home help". Easy peasy Jananesy!!

That's a pretty good deal Matt.
I used to earn loads more than my wife but I moved jobs for a better career (hopefully) and took a pay cut so wife now earns a little bit more than me (her salary also shot up) so I do most of the chores to compensate, although I still do the same chores as before.

All very well hiring a cleaning wench.... but best avoid the younger Eastern European type as they have a habit of polishing the wrong ( or right ) kind of knob.

Instruction that come with my over say to clean, turn up to max for about an hour once a month or whenever it gets dirty. It basically incinerates anything in there, you just sweep out the bottom and wipe the glass.

Good luck with the aga
