I've started to get itchy feet in my current house. To be honest, I've never really settled and not keen on the area or people at all. So thinking about alternative places to live and thought I should consider Birmingham City Centre.

Given that my job entails me to travel all over the country and most of the time via Birmingham New Street this could save me a lot of time not to mention money. Also means that I no longer have to sit in the traffic for an hour in and hour out each day and spend £40/week on petrol and £30/week on Parking.

So what are peoples thoughts/experiences? Is the shared accommodation feel annoying? are the walls too thin? is it a false economy (ie ground rent, service charges, resale value)? is the market exhausted (ie too many new places)?

My brother bought a flat in a new development in the Jewellery Quarter a couple of years ago - close enough to be central, but not right on Broad Street, and frankly it's brilliant. I'd go for it.

You could always go further up North and live in the new Beetham Tower that is being built in Manchester....

47 storeys high, its going to be the UK's tallest residential block.

Cheers Guys - There is plenty of choice in Brum, perhaps a little too much which is one of my concerns - ie market saturated with city centre property.

Beetham tower looks amazing but bit too far north!

I think as long as you curb your spitting and biting habbits, stop playing "knock & Run" and limit your playing of thrash metal you will find that most people in aprt blocks will be nice to you. However I would remove all the peircings from your face have a wash and refrain from wondering down to get the post in the nude.

If you want to bunk down in one of the penthouses at the very top (the 47th floor) you'll need somewhere in the region of £3 million, but in return you will have fine views of Liverpool, Snowdonia and Blackpool Tower, not to mention the satisfaction of living in the UK's premium residential perch

Or you could have a huge country residence in Alderley Edge or somewhere similar

fine views of Liverpool

get a pair of binoculars and think of the hours of fun you can have watching the high speed police pursuits, or spying down on prozzies and crack dealers plying their wares.
