Does anyone know if The Garage on The Green, Peterborough Road, Parsons Green
is still in operation and if anyone has any experience of dealing with the people there?
It has been a few years since I was there but they had some great older cars but I have haven't noticed any publicity about them or ads recently.

Thanks

I think they may have shut.... it still looks like the old garage from the outside but the only time I have seen the doors open recently they were selling kitchens instead of cars?!

Tom (the owner) has 'gone underground' - the Garage on the Green is unlikely to be back.

I heard that there were complications with regard to the books balancing - only a rumour .

Some folk at the back end of this thread seem to have dealt with them if it helps at all ....

I was down that way a few moths ago and it’s a safe bet to assume GOTG is no more.

A real shame as well as they really traded in the sorts of thing that make it worth putting up with clients!

What’s more there really isn’t anywhere else quite like GOTG for dealing in a nice range of the truly exotic and more importantly cars of exotic provenance as well!

I was speaking with somebody in the DeTomaso club earlier in the week and was talking about a set up that used to be in West London about 20 years ago called Hechams, Heathmans or something similar. They dealt in used Lambo, DeTomaso, Maserati and other similar cars?

Indeed such a shame if it has gone. When I was there (6 odd years ago!)it seemed like a real treasure trove and they were really friendly. I got to sit in a Maserati 250S, my first and only time in a Maser :-)

I do believe that GOTG has ceased trading. They always had a really diverse selection of old Ferraris, Maseratis, etc.

There was a similar outfit called Autodrome, who went bust I believe. Have heard a few interesting stories about them.

Heathmans were in Parsons Green, Fulham in the eighties. Ran by a guy called Barry Martina. I sold my Lambo through there in 1986. He was a really nice guy.

Let us know if you are still around Baz. I remember selling your number plate KCO 6 for you.

Barry Martina, I thought that name rang a bell from somewhere. I love the Lambo Registry site and having read several times the history on some of the British cars he owned a Miura with LAM130 on it.

Slightlywealthycardealer, like you I went there with my old chap when I was 12 or 13 I think and it was one of those visits that really started the bug. I can remember the cars but not exactly where it was. They had a lime green Pantera for sale, the rest is as they history! And a slightly expensive one at that!!

I would love to put together a book charting the history of some of these sorts of establishments, the cars, the characters, the histories, dubious, honest or otherwise. HWM doing Monteverdi, the original Lambo dealer which was somewhere down on the South Circular if I recall correctly

Do excuse the partial thread hijack on this one but 360BOY and PCD i guess you might know him anyway, but a chap locally called Joff Ward runs a Porsche specialist called Finlay Gorham. Before they did Porsche up in Suffolk they might have dealt in Lamborghinis during the same sort of period as Heathmans in London?

Just to steer back on track one of my biggest regrets was not buying the LP400 they had regardless of the dubious provenance and was only equalled by not buying the Lister LeMans they had at the same time.

From memory Heathmans had a shield like logo painted on their door(lambo like)........a friend of mine was a mechanic at a Lambo dealer in the late 70s/early 80s, they sold 15 cars and went bust!! It was in Dewsbury West Yorkshire..............

When I was very a juniord I used to read Classic & Sportscar and remember seeing the Heathman's ads and thinking that I need to go there for a look around (difficult when you live in Ireland though). They always seemed to have a couple of Miuras or Khamsins on their books - two cars I still haven't seen in the flesh yet, despite my efforts :-(

Whilst we're dragging old names up - anyone remember John Chappel? Used to run Chappel Porsche and then lucked into the (Portman) Lambo UK franchise in the late '80s or early '90s...what happened to him?..he still owes me a track day!

Hi Phil

It was called Holly House Lamborghini, it was an Opel/Lamborghini dealership and it was in the building which is now Evans Halshaw Vauxhall on Bradford Road, Dewsbury..........not 100% sure how long they were there but it was in the 70s apparantly.

Rubystone,

John Chappel is alive and kicking ! I know him quite well and have done so for 10 years or so. He runs a car sales business close to J13 on the M25 in the Wraysbury area. He's now racing, and with some success, a Zetec powered Westfield in one of the specialist series. I'll let him know you still want your track day !

Regards, Meridian
