Here's my dilema:

I have a deposit on a T350, with the trade in that I've been offered (reasonable but not over generous) it will cost appx 27K to change from my griff.

My griff returns from a full respray on Monday. In addition to this, over the 2 years I've owned it it has had: Nitrons & poly bushes,4 pot front brakes, new rear brake dics, diff bushes done, waxoyled, fan overide, etc etc - in other words I own a well sorted car that doesn't leak.

So do I go for the T350 & sod the cost & possible new TVR niggles, or blow out the deposit & stick with what I know? If I kept the griff I would spend some cash on an interior full hide retrim & a roll bar, new wheels & possibly aircon. I reckon on 7k ish for that lot.

I've driven a tamora a couple of times, so I'm aware of the improvements over the griff (better, but 27K's worth - probably not).

Sounds to me like you've already talked yourself out of making the change.

No. I'm just nervous about SP6 engine reliability, & a bit concerned about the depreciation it'll suffer.

If you wait a couple of years from now to do it, you'll have exactly the same problem. Ie nearly 30k extra to cough up, and big depreciation (as with almost any new car).

Do you REALLY want it? If yes, buy it. You only live once. If not, stick with the Griffith.
I'm never sure of being able to afford a new TVR a couple of years down the line, so I go for it when I can. It's that 'You only live once' saying that always sees me parting with 10s of £1000s every so often. Goddammit.

I don't know how much deposit you stand to lose - but it can't be as much as what you'd lose in depreciation on a T-wotsit. Maybe if you sit down with a calculator and work out costs over 1,2,3 years etc it will help.

Perhaps you can 'sell' your place at a a modest discount to someone else who wants one?

(And you can't get the roof off a T-wotsit)

Although you could wait a year or two and pick up a second hand T350 for 30 grand, having let someone else sort out all the "new TVR" niggles. Your Griff will probably still be worth 12k on the private market, judging by current prices for early pre-cats and 500s.
