Thinking of getting a light trial bike (600cc plus though) to commute within london. I don't need to do long distances anymore, so my very beautiful (Renegade exhaust, full fairings, colour coded, etc) SV650s isn't really needed... Want something thinner I can chuck around a bit more in traffic. Suggestions?

It needs to look mean though, and sound the business!

Know nothing about these kind of bikes (the ones with a fat rear and slightly higher front end) but the black KTM's I have seen look nice. Beefy enough to look like a real bike, bit still fairly light!

Hi There,

Have you considered a KTM 640?. Out of all the bikes in that sort of league thats definetly what i would go for. It looks good and it may only be a 640 but its still pretty quick, "nippy" in traffic

If you go to look at a second hand bike make sure you check everything you would check on a road bike but if it has had some off road use check another couple of things.

Check the end of the exhaust (above the back tyre) for any nasty dents which indicates the owner has been pulling some big jumps on her.

Double check the area under the bike (around the sump plug) for any big scrapes and check the sump plug itself as the head could have been knocked off completly (seems unlikely but its happened to me!).

If you are going for a second hand bike 3000 pounds should get you a very nice bike, shop around and get a good one .
