Wortec 6.0ltr Essential Pac is ready……
Discussion
Approach
The last few months have seen our development car and five other cars running around with various tunes in them, they have been testing all aspects of the new tune that we have developed for the 6.0ltr Monaro (LS2.)
R&D
As we are the only UK company that can tune LS2 cars, (6.0ltr Monaro) and one of only a few companies in the world to have the capability. We spent a great deal of time checking what works and what doesn't as we have had to lead the way through extensive testing.
We felt that the car needed a better sounding exhaust and as there was not an appropriate system available, we decided to develop our own exhaust system to compliment the tune.
The system has custom made polished oval end tips and is made from a marine grade stainless steel
After everyone we spoke to said make it loud we decided to produced a system with a unique property....... it has interchangeable centre boxes, so you can choose the sound level of your car without affecting the performance.
Option one. Produces a very deep old school V8 sound.
Option two. Sounds pure NASCAR.
The system is supplied with both centre sections to change the sound, just pop into your dealer and get it changed over.
The owners of the test cars have been reporting back on how the cars feel and perform. This info has been invaluable as our aim has always been to produce a tune that address all aspects of the drive not just power. One of the major issues was the way the power was delivered. The PCM always seemed to have more restrictive control with the ETC than owners liked, it’s throttle response initially feels very remote and dull. We have spent a lot of time ensuring that this has been addressed. Headline power and torque fiqures are all well and good, but the feel of the car on the road is just as important, this we have addressed very successfully, and feel we have produced a package developed specifically for the UK and our challenging driving style and road conditions, rather than just bolt on a Australian or American tune which may not be ideal for fast road and track driving.
We would like thank the testers for their time......
"MalcN" for his dedication in trying to break his Monaro......
"Denby" for his high speed test drives on the continent........
"Caspy" for his expert torque management tyre testing......
"Tony" (not on the forum) for sound analysis (louder, louder)
"Chris" (not on the forum) for driving in lots of slow traffic....
Such has been the feed back about the tune "Vauxhall" asked if we would like to add a couple of their cars to the test programme which we were more than happy to do......
We put the tune in the BTCC Course car which had already had one of our exhaust systems fitted (and will be seen and driven at the MPH05 show by Mr Clarkson)
Also we fitted an exhaust and tune to the totally mad 6.0ltr Maloo, which made a celebrity appearance at the last ‘Chelsea Cruise’ ..............
The boys at "Vauxhall" have been amazed at the change in the Maloo, not just the power and the sound, but also the fuel economy.....
Verification
So all this testing needed verification and yesterday we did a back to back test on one car at a dyno cell with a controlled climate to make sure the test was creditable and accurate. Same car, same day, same place, same operator etc etc.
We performed many tests to compare tunes, and exhausts etc starting by putting the car back to std factory settings. Each test was performed 3 times and an average figure was taken.
Results
The main results are :-
1. Standard car produced 403bhp and 398 ft/lbs of torque
2. New map and exhaust (essential pac) 443bhp and 440 ft/lbs of torque
Product release
We were delighted with the results and are happy to now offer the upgrade for sale, and of course you can ‘try before u buy’, with a test drive of one of demo cars with the package installed.
AND the million dollar question....how much.............................£1790 inc fitting and VAT
AND WHEN.......... The first set of twenty systems are pre sold (I have tried to email a few of you but no reply so please email me if you think you are on the list)
The next set are due in 2-3 weeks so please contact your dealer now...........................

Agreed it is a must have for for all ls2 cars, You mentioned a couple a weeks ago about some headers, and talked about at the pre bathurst bash about some cai mods, these we probaly form the next tuning pac you offer, have you a best guess when these will be available.
The work done on the VXR Maloo was fantastic, the lowering kit made look so mean with the great soundtrack as well,Also Andys CV8 sounded so good, well done for jumping in from day one with the mods.

Yes the upgrade is awesome, sound and driveability massively improved. Cliche I know, but its now the car it was always intended to be!
Anyone nuts enough to have bought a 6.0 VXR should be nuts enough to have this done
Paul, I assume my system is the option 2 NASCAR section?
And as for your comments on my dedication to providing feedback.....

Credit where credits due!
Paul (Wortec) have put a lot of time and money into this project and I think the results speak for themselves. We have fitted three systems now, all have fitted well, sound absolutly fantabulosis, both staight through and the 'sillenced' version. In conjunction with the remap, are a 'must have' for any 6.0 litre. In fact we havn't had a customer say no yet, you hear, and you just have to have it, I know I have.
See ya'all Sunday.
