Yes the 993RS is still superb.
It will be 6 years in March since I bought it and I have done plenty of track days and the occasional sprint each year at the PCGB festival.Apart from regular routine maintanance she has been faultless.
During this time I've also owned 2 GT3RS but, although very capable cars, they just dont feel as "special" as the aircooled RS, but its probably personal preference.
What do you run these days?

Good to hear that. I had kept getting glimpses of the car in Porsche Post, and still miss it. However I think it probably would not have made sense to keep doing the day to day mileage in it that I was - I wonder what the value of a 993RS with 100k + miles on it would be? I now have a 996 C4S (in speed yellow of course) as well as my Caterham for playing when the weathers better than it is at present. I think from time to time about a GT3, but keep being sensible and deciding that in terms of "fit for purpose" it would be difficult to better the 4S, though if a SY TT X50 turned up who knows?

I know what you mean, the 993RS is too good to put day to day, high milage on, in fact mine spends more time being trailored than driven!!!
A Speed Yellow Mk 2 GT3 may be a good motor for you at present, especially when you can pick them up so cheaply, in the current market.They make a great all rounder!!

Power is not everything, as long as you have enough power..
993 RS/R is without question, one of the greatest 911s of all time, along with a few others.!
Interesting about the 2 CSLs, 2 RS, etc
I have gone from CSL to GT3 to CSL to GT3RS, with a few thrown in between, but I appear to be content at mo.
GT2 is still on my list at some stage..

Last bike I had was an R.1 back in 2000, scared the sh1t out of me.
Had done the big bike thing + trackdays, in my earlier years.. but big bikes today have ridiculous power/weight ratios.!
I think current Gixer 1000, weighs 165kg with 165bhp..(correct me if I'm under).. would be like putting a 1330bhp engine in my RS.. crazy.

I agree Rob05,when it comes to outright excitement the bike wins hands down.Ive done 17k miles in uk and around europe on my 996 Duke, and the sheer adrenalin rush,and staggering performance, is impossible to reproduce,even in the most powerfull road cars.
However its "Horses for Courses" and the 911 may not out perform the bike on paper but it delivers an equal "Buzz" for me in so many different areas than outright speed.
I must be getting old!!

CS - have you spoken to Sean Lockyear? Was on the phone to him last night and he's got a couple of RHD cars, one which is slight over my budget but it sounds just about perfect.

I had thought about North Weald, but it is one hell of a treck for me for December! My trips down south need to picked with care......i.e. in the summer!
I guess my car has finished its track season. What I am most gutted about is that I am at a wedding for the RS gathering at Oulton on 18 March next year. Gutted gutted gutted.
Are you fancying Spa in May 2006?
