Short Throw Shift
Discussion
Found this Aussie site with some info on Monaro LS1 tuning etc and they claim to have a LS1 capable of 10.22 quarter - nice video of it as well. Anyways they have a short throw shifter for $400 aus which is very cheap when converted to UK. Anyone on here tried fitting one of these or got any comments on its suitability? Realise Wortec do one and it gets great reviews - wondered if this might be an alternative.

that is the American B&M shifter ......try www.ls1gto.com for feed back but the last time i looked they were not to impressed with it.......
LSV have sold a B&M short shift as well as the Ripshifter for several years. I guess this is the same bit of kit.
I'm going to check both out as soon as I get it together to visit LSV for a plug change & speedo converter change. Getting the car dynoed as well, which should be interesting.
The B&M is supposed to be of better quality. I believe V8HSV has this B&M shift fitted.
LSV charge £350 inclusive of VAT & fitting for both the B&M & Ripshifter.
So importing one yourself is going to be cheaper, but obviously more aggro.
Amazingly, I've never got round to fitting a quick shift, it seems an essential mod. from what everyone tells me.

I'm 100% sure that's what I was told, as in addition to getting the car dynoed, I'm buying an outdoor cover & getting the speedo issue sorted as well new plugs. I wanted to know exactly what everything would cost.

$649 (aus.) is £272.
So allowing for trade prices etc. it seems about right. After tooling expenses etc. have been paid for, these shifters can't cost much to make. Guess it's down to volume of sales.

The great thing about mods. is that it's almost like getting a new car every time you do a significant change.
Looking forward to some "sweet shifts".
Paul, the £381 is c.40% more than the retail price an LS1 forum member can buy one for! I've no idea what the importing taxes etc. are but that's a big difference.

B&M make a Ripper Shifter and GM in Oz make the RipShifter.
Im 100% sure they are different.
See here for B&M www.tbyrne.com/GTO/gtonewproducts.html
And here for GMMotorsports www.gmmotorsport.com/ripshiftmanual.htm
I bought the Oz one for £225 while I was over there.

There seems to be lots of varying prices around.
Looking at the pics. from ringram's post they look almost the same. B&M looks a little shinier though & It's $164.99. That's less than £100!!!
Like all things nowadays you need to trawl the net for the best prices.
I'm actually going to drive cars with both B&M & Ripshift fitted as I reckon that's the only way to be sure, having heard praise for both models.
I'll report back.

I have tried both, and there is a tangible difference in shift quality. U get what u pay for and i am sure that some owners would be happy with the Ripper "off" Shifter. We decided only to sell the "Ripshifter" as it ultimately offers an unrivalled shift action at a very reasonable price.
I am sure when u try it u will agree.

From what I gather, another person has purchased a share of LSV, hopefully this will result in positive changes to LSV which will be of benefit to the owners of HSV's Monaro's etc.
I'm not aware of the name changing.
I think LSV should comment further if they wish to, as I'm aware that this is actually none of my business!
Personally, I've used Mark for over 5 years now & he has always given me first class service.

Pending a formal announcement from the new management of LSV, I’d just like to throw a little light on events at Linden. Linden Special Vehicles has increasingly become involved in development work and special projects, therefore it has sold its retail business which will continue to operate (as Linden Special Vehicles) from the Wellingborough premises.
