Friend's had their passport stolen and they're going abroad on Saturday evening. Is there anything they can do, apart from not go that is?

They say (on the phone) that stolen passport replacement time is 7 days. End. Oh, and you need an appointment now it seems, and they haven't got any...anywhere in the country. Not true maybe?

Thanks

They absolutely WILL NOT replace stolen passports same day. They will only replace expired passports this way, i.e where you have the original passport to evidence you are actually entitled to one.

To replace a stolen passport you need photos signed by a solicitor/doctor/whatever and they will then phone that person up to check who they are, as well as sending faxes to theor official work address which they have to reply to.

And its seven days from the date of your appointment, not seven days from when you call.

Sorry, not good news, but this is my personal experience from last year.
