If games are already shipping a few weeks before the console's release, is it wise to hunt down and snap up the ones you want, in case stock runs out for the game of your choice (perfect dark zero, maybe amped/kameo/or PGR3) before the consoles launch?

Maybe .... If they launch before the console then I would certaintly buy PGR3 just in case.

The Americans are the only ones who will be getting the games before launch, and the American games won't work on a UK system. We'll get the games on the same day as the consoles arrive (2nd December) but it's likely that it will be much harder to find a console than it will be to find the games, especially as they reckon only 50,000 or so 360's are going to make it to the UK before 2006. Even people who pre-ordered are getting emails from companies saying they can no-longer guarantee a console. Gonna be a lot of unhappy people come Christmas.
