Hi
This is my first time on this forum and I am looking for some advice.

I have been looking into buying an Elise but unfortunately can't reach the pedals

I've been told about the block on the clutch pedal and a 'booster seat' Is anyone else out there who is short like me who and can advise me whether I need one or both?

Hi there

Glad to hear you like the elise. It is like few other cars on the road. I hope you have some experience with high performance rear wheel drive cars.

Putting a block on the pedal is probably not a very sensible idea in a car like the elise - you will have very little pedal feel and it would have to be anchored really well - might be a last resort. However, if you are really keen, there are a few options you can consider.

1) there is a small amount of adjustability in the pedals themselves - but almost certainly not enough if you can't reach the pedals.

2) The entire seat mount could theoretically be positioned further forward - for safety though, this is not a diy job should only be done by someone who really knows what they are doing - it would probably involve drilling new holes in the floor for the attachment bolts. Downside is that a tall person would be uncomforatble driving the car as the seat would no go back as far.

3) Are you tall enough to see over the dashboard comfortably - one does sit low down in an elise anyway. - then the booster seat idea may have some merit.

Without meaning to be rude, how tall are you? This might give an idea of how drastic a solution is required.

Good luck

Sorry - I just looked at your profile - if you have driven a Sagaris, forget the RWD comments etc - the elise will be a piece of cake! Clearly you like fast cars.

Hi, I have seen some posts on this subject, but haven't looked into it myself.

Having said all that, previous advice was to turn the seat mountings round to face the otherway. The net result is that the seat does go further forward, though not as far back... but you won't have drilled any holes...

Hope that helps, Andrew

How short is short ? Whilst neatly avoiding the age and weight related minefield my Mrs is 5ft 1" and drives an S2 fine with seat full forward on a 3" thick chair cushion.

Thanks to everyone for their replies and advice.
I re read my post and realise I made a sweeping statement regarding not 'reaching' the pedals.
I am almost 5 ft and it is the clutch that I have a problem with. Even with the seat as far forward as it will go I cant push the clutch right in. Because the seat back doesnt move I am not far enough forward to drive comfortably and as you all know this is really important when driving a car like this.

Thanks for that advice Andrew
The cushion and pedal block will cost about 300 quid so this is worth a try

Yep - Thats where I got the advice from but the cost put me off a bit and I wanted to explore the 'cheaper' option.

I used to use a cushion to drive the Tuscan but that wasnt my everyday car. I just feel that it would be a pain to have to use a cushion in the Elise. I will be taking a cushion out with me today as I need to test drive one.
